Re: Erosion along driveway haunching edge, pls help!! 5Jun 26, 2014 12:51 pm SaveH2O It sounds like you have dispersive fill. If so, the hole will need regular topping up for some time. Gutters rarely overflow at the downpipe unless the downpipe is restricted in some way. Do you know if the gutter is overflowing at that point? This won't change the fact that the soil is dispersing. I don't know... cuz I don't live there, so it's very hard to find out what caused it. Any solution you can suggest? Re: Erosion along driveway haunching edge, pls help!! 6Jun 26, 2014 1:12 pm You don't want an expanding void (worst case scenario) under the driveway and the only way to avoid that happening is to keep topping up the hole with a quality soil. You have to remember that the driveway was laid on compacted soil/fill and the soil/fill is possibly/probably dispersing. The result it could have on the driveway is the concern. The situation might not be too bad though as it could just be the soil at the side that is dispersing given that the driveway has just been relaid. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing how much if any has dispersed under the driveway. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Erosion along driveway haunching edge, pls help!! 7Jun 26, 2014 1:19 pm What I am going to do is, get a few bags of concrete mix from Bunnings and mix it up with water, and then pour them into the hole, hopefully can fill it up. Then I am going to dig the side soil to 100mm deep, put some quarry rubbles in it, compact it up, and then add more soil on top so that it's higher level up. I can't think of anything else that can stop water from pooling there besides leveling it up... Re: Erosion along driveway haunching edge, pls help!! 9Jun 26, 2014 5:52 pm im not sure its an overflowing gutter causing the problem. I agree with saveH2o theres something happening with the soil. it could be the case the stormwater trench had not settled and compacted before the driveway was poured, with water getting into the trench the soil is settling causing the hole. use course river sand to top it up, this will wash down well and not cause any expansion problems. i wouldnt used concrete because if it sits against the stormwater pipe it could create a problem if theres movement in the future. Re: Erosion along driveway haunching edge, pls help!! 10Jun 27, 2014 2:25 am Good advice. I should also have said coarse river sand, not soil. 3in1 Supadiverta.
