Re: Overall width of door and door jamb 12May 18, 2014 6:17 pm Yeah, I'd hate to do that, as I won't get anywhere near what I actually paid for it. I was already thinking of a 820 1/2 window door for that room, and that was going to go down to a 770 door to allow the window as well. Somewhat frustrating to have this happen. Just wondering if I could rebuild the window to say a 450mm window and just get new glass cut to fit the smaller frames. That should take the windows in by 150mm, and should easily allow a 820 door then. Along with a 1/2 window door should still let oodles of light in, as well as allowing the window to stay open, when the door can't be left open. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Re: Overall width of door and door jamb 14May 18, 2014 7:56 pm No, the laundry is actually wider, but it does have a sliding door linen cupboard on one side of the door opening. The plans state the opening should have been 1600, the actually full width of the laundry is 2200 on the plans. I think I'll try and get out there to do some of my own measurements to see how they stack up against the plans. I'm guessing they've made the garage marginally wider by about 90mm, which has squeezed the laundry width down. Edit: the house plans on are on my blogsite if you would like to check it out. Re: Overall width of door and door jamb 15May 18, 2014 10:18 pm Get an actual measure between the linen and the garage wall. Try and work out where the 100mm is, check the linen is only 530 internal or the wc hasn't been made 1100. To achieve the 1600 shown on the plan the jack studs supporting the head should be in the wall partitions. If you can get a pic of what is there it should be able to be fixed to get your door in. Re: Overall width of door and door jamb 16May 19, 2014 10:51 pm Went out to the house today, and checked the measurements. Linen is just under 530 internal. The WC is just under the 1000 it is supposed to be. As mentioned earlier, the opening is 1510, and that's from the outside of the linen to the garage wall. If I can confidently get a 770 door and the already supplied 600 window in there, then this will work for me, albeit not 100% happy I'll be losing 50mm, but not a major tragedy. A 770mm door will still allow a laundry basket being carried out, where a 720 door, which I believe is the next standard size down, would just be too tight. The garage width is actually 5950 wide, when it should have been 6000 (not a drama), so that hasn't sneaked in to the laundry space. Next thing to wonder about, and I'll check it out next time I go up there, the overall length of the house. Could it be a little too short, and this is where it has shown it up ?
