Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 381Apr 06, 2014 8:04 pm Holy macaroni! Your dressing room is a beast! I love love love it. That was my biggest thing when building. I HAD to have a huge wardrobe and that was the downfall with the ambassador but colt fixed it up for us so I get (nowhere near yours) But still a big WIR. I will spend money after handover achieving the "sex in the city" look on our wardrobe lol. We are sort of close in motion - your a few months ahead though but will be great to stay in touch and run things past each other if that's cool with you Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 382Apr 06, 2014 8:19 pm It would be great to stay in touch and swap Wisdom war stories lol. That dressing room is total overkill I know but it started as a huge ensuite with bath that we didn't need so we halved the ensuite and extended the WIR. We couldn't think of what else to do with the space. Colt did suggest it would make a good nursery lol. Well at least we will have no storage problems. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 384Apr 06, 2014 8:51 pm G'day neighbour twhjc2014, nice to meet you indeed and nice to finally know an immediate neighbour. Haven't been on for a few days again - night shift-yuck, so of course so much to catch up on. Reads like so much has happened while I've been playing night owl. We were impressed of being able to get into council on the Mulpha permission before rego / settlement but I guess we will wait and see how much longer before we get out of council to see if it really did us any good - it was our builders idea which then went to Mulpha via our conveyancer. As previously we hope to be out for easter so we will see. We have 2 boys too - 9 & 14 by the time we move in. I must admit your a brave person buying a plan not seeing the house - you must have a great imagination - it would be killing me not being to physically see the house - I think we will be getting charged entry rates soon because we always in the display home, measuring for furniture, finding something new, somedays sitting in it like we own it lol lol lol. So happy to read that many of you out there have made progress one way or the other with your builders. Its all starting to take shape up there at the moment. Yet again today on our drive by there is rubbish dumped in our closed end - I did a couple of drive bys after work this week gone and several days there was rubbish which I have been keeping a photo record of - spoke to the landscape guys who do the clean ups and they are sick of cleaning it all up as are we of seeing it all. Welcome to Lstr123 - another Bluestone Dr?? I agree storage was one of our biggest things too - now instead of losing things because of lack of storage space, we reckon we will be losing things because we have so much space and so many places to put stuff. Anyway better say good night and catch up with all again soon. Have a great week everyone with the upcoming progress Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 385Apr 06, 2014 9:17 pm Housesformouses - i hope you have no problems selling your apartment! And good luck getting the remaining plans through this week. Rose - Oh your planks look great, are they loose lay or the van gogh? are you happy with it? pros and cons? thanks so much for sharing. Airy - Hopefully your awful feeling will never become a reality! good luck, this rain needs to go away though so it doesn't get held up Lstr - Thats great things are moving along now, OMG 10m wardrobe! Super Jelly! Ours is like 3m - nothing to rave about! but i dont have many clothes. and really no shoes either, im not a big shopper. i like homewares instead of clothes. 18k sounds alreight my friend was just quoted 25k for a staircase on a reno build in Surrey hills. AFM - its PCI eve! I dont know if i will sleep much tonight, im feeling so pumped for it. i hope the house doesn't have too many things to fix up, id love to settle just before Easter. Renski, my planks are art select and I am very happy with them, just make sure sure your slab is prepared with a levelling compound to make it level & smooth, may cost a bit extra but it will make a heap of difference. the loose lay are not recommended. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 387Apr 07, 2014 1:51 pm I started reading a few of your blogs. They're great! twhjc2014, We are also building a house that doesn't have a display home for us to check out. Making measurements and comparing to current room sizes is indeed helpful. I have an awesome program that allows me to make a 3D model of a house though and you can do a virtual walkthrough. It's free but for Ubuntu. I have spent many hours playing with it. Renski, next time I walk to our block I may try to figure out which house is yours. I walk along Bluestone past the nature reserve and had been checking out the houses to get colour ideas anyway. I hope your PCI went well. Lstr123, you'll think me mad but we actually had two WIRs on the plan, his and hers, and we decided to get rid of one. We originally wanted a balcony instead but apparently it's better to put the balcony over the alfresco (fair enough) so the "hers" WIR is currently planned as balcony access + book nook. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 388Apr 07, 2014 5:39 pm Book nook! Now I might have to redo my plans <3 I am putting in a study, but might see if hubby will keep his training room in the garage so I can double my study. Problem with being a teacher is having SO much stuff, though I have been getting better. Then someone retires and I end up with a new pile... Hmm. Well I spoke to Elderton today and apparently the ground is too wet to start and they are waiting for the ground to dry out. They've had a truck stuck apparently! I wonder how big our wir is... Might have to check my plans. Its been a while since I've looked at them. When we originally looked at Elderton, it was on a brochure for a house and land package. The floorplan looked perfect for us (single storey in MR) so we went and had a look and fell in love. Then I decided I wanted a pool so we started looking at double storey's! Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 389Apr 07, 2014 6:16 pm I hear you Airy... I cleaned out my storeroom at work and have filled my garage... Now have to move it to the new school... I worked out that if I go back to my substantive school at the end of the year, I will be possibly moving house and work again (groan)... Hoping the ground dries out and we do need to meet up AF. On another note, we were slabbed today. A great birthday present. Yay!!! Building the Villina Grande Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 390Apr 07, 2014 6:57 pm Seems like there is abit of a community of teachers in the area. My husband is also a teacher Can't wait to start getting the ball rolling and getting to some appointments to select things. Then it will feel abit more real. My 2 little ones are currently 5 1/2 months and 19months. Will have to tighten up on the discipline to ensure they are totally behaved when the new house is built lol Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 391Apr 07, 2014 7:00 pm Congratulations Dreamhome, and Happy Birthday. Exciting watching yours go ahead to see how well Masterton build. AiryFairy crossing my fingers for you, so they can get started I'm sure it must be frustrating. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 392Apr 07, 2014 9:36 pm Congratulations Dream Home & Happy Birthday!!! GV - any word from council yet?? LSTR - my little one is 2 on Wednesday, and we would like to have another one not long after we move in (so we will see how that works out lol) I love that MR is going to have a real family vibe and lots of young kids around. It will be even better when the new school opens. I am so impatient now we have approval. Once we go jnto the 20 workings days, I think it's going to be the longest 4 weeks ever! Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 393Apr 07, 2014 9:51 pm AiryFairy, hope the land dries up soon. I am picturing one trying to dry it with some kind of industrial fan/hair dryer. Happy birthday DreamHome! Congrats on the slab. No kids for us for a few years (probably) but great to see the range of ages thusfar! I am happy there are so many families. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 394Apr 07, 2014 9:52 pm Dreamhome. Congratulations on your slab. We took a drive to check out our block tonight and saw your slab..what a great birthday..happy birthday! We got a portaloo today - how exciting!!!! No fence so I hope the hoons don't spot it. Airy fairy. We hope that the rains stop too so both our blocks dry out. Our slab has been put back to 14th. Would love to have a slab for Easter. I hope my wish comes true for both of us. Congrats to Renski too on her PCI today. So close now. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 396Apr 08, 2014 12:31 pm Yay dreamhome! Congrats on your slabbing. Happy birthday too! I(f you happen to find anything about Fairy Tales, I'm interested) - lol! Holidays are coming - we can drink plenty of coffee lstr - is your hubby primary or high school? Is he nearby? My DH works very close to where we are now. HFM - I LOVE your thinking lol. Though I don't see why we can't get started when dreamhome just got slabbed. We are pretty close! I'm thinking excuses... Sunrise - let's hope the sun rises and dries up all the rain. (Sorry, just taught Nursery Rhymes unit to my kindy's lol) Home sick today, but I desperately want a coffee. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 397Apr 08, 2014 10:13 pm Kjhosko. It is very exciting!!!! Congrats. Hope they do a quick turnaround for you. Airyfairy. Any news? Love your nursery rhyme. Hope you got your coffee. We got our piers done and some form work. Very excited. The house opposite us also got piering and slab plumbing done today. Darug is on the move! Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 398Apr 08, 2014 11:42 pm Dream h - happy birthday. And conslabulations! Best pressie ever Sunrise - 14th will come quick now you have piers you'll get your waffle pods soon. Happy days. Why don't you have your fence yet. Hopefully the hoons decided to sleep tonight and not go searching. AF - I can see why you're wondering why you can't get things happening on block when other homes are. Hopefully the wait isn't too long KJ - you'll be racing against the others soon enough. Which builder can build a house quicker. Houses - ours is easy to spot. Fence is down now. 3 homes in from the end. Sea like a distant memory me spending my Sundays driving around colour researching I love love love there are so many young families. Were going this move for the kids. So I can't wait for the community to build up. My PCI update is in blog. Click link in my sig. It's easier that way than posting pics. So stoked with house. It's beautiful. It's bear on perfect. Everything I imagined it to be Eden Brae Drysdale 27 | The Blog Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 399Apr 09, 2014 2:31 am Kjhosko Oh forgot to mention, LSTR we are using Better Pools & Spas, they were fantastic and did a really good price. We are just getting a 6 x 3 concrete pool. Our tiles/pavers are going to match the coping so it's streamline and then a glass fence which we will install ourselves. Good to know Kjhosko that you are going with better pools and spas. We are also going with them. But we have just started to have some issues with them regarding their knowledge about the council requirements. LSTR, our concrete pool is of 9 x 3.5. It's costing us around 45k for the pool along with the heating, water feature and the council fees. Fencing, tipping and all other things are extra. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 400Apr 09, 2014 7:48 am So jealous reading everyone's progress! Thanks for the pool prices. Hoping that once we get to the fixed price tender stage, we can assess wether a pool is on the cards. My hubby is anxious with how much building a house costs now and then adding a pool ontop - His dad keeps influencing him, thinks you can build for 300k. I just laughed.... I wish 300k hey. Maybe some 20 years ago! Airy fairy- my husband is high school but not in the area. Is your hubby high school? Maybe my hubby can get a job there as he's been at his school for Abt 10yrs now.. Maybe time for a change lol I'm keen to know when the primary school will go up. I've always thought I would send mine to a catholic school but there's so much funding in public schools and also if it's a small community school then it will also be nice. Meeting with Colt from WH again this Saturday to fine tune the plans and then they will go away and do the soil and land test thingo. Jeff has told me that I should save some money on my build there as our block is "flat as a tac" so site cost should be minimal. Glad to save any penny at the moment with the way our tender is looking thus far. On a seperate note: cooling off on our current house we sold ends today Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 25706 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 18613 I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 10640 |
