Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 370Apr 05, 2014 2:33 pm Don't know dream home. Will see if anything happens in the next couple of days. I am prepared to take a day off and go stalk her in the office if I don't get any joy! I have a dreadful feeling we will have to leave our rental when the lease is up. Everything else has been going relatively smoothly, so I don't know why I am having this feeling. 34 weeks and counting. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 371Apr 05, 2014 9:20 pm bluestone65 Could I ask if anyone is doing interest only loans whilst building? My hubby does not like the idea, but I am ok with it. Interest only has the benefit of keeping more money handy for if it is needed but means your principal isn't paid down. If you have an offset account and the money that would have gone to principal is in there, then it will still reduce your interest payable. However, since no money is coming off the loan, the loan will take longer to pay and be higher in total. Also, the rates are good now but who knows where they'll go which means an increase during the interets only period would apply to the full amount of your loan. In short, if you have enough spare to be able to pay principal + interest, that's the safest option but if you may need some spare, interest only may be useful. Perhaps google some of the pros and cons. I am a big fan of paying as much as I can off the loan because it bothers me how much interest one pays over the course of a loan. It is great to see where everyone is up to with their builds. Renski, I hope the inspection goes well! Congrats on your progress Dreamhome and AiryFairy. I actually really like Glenmore park shops! To be fair though, we shop without a trolley when we're there. GP woolies has nice wide aisles and you don't have to walk past several shops to get to it. Currently my closest woolies is Chatswood and I avoid it like the plague. We have some plans from Kurmond but they only gave the front elevation. I want a full set before we set about amending things. Hopefully we get the rest next week. We're also listing our apartment soon which is keeping us busy. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 372Apr 06, 2014 4:08 pm Hi all! Met with wisdom over the weekend and have confirmed we will be building the ambassador 36 with alterations! Getting the ball rolling now I also get to have my 10M walk in wardrobe! Def cheering Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 375Apr 06, 2014 5:58 pm thought I would post a photo of my vinyl planks from the karndean range https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/213 ... -00108.jpg Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 376Apr 06, 2014 6:57 pm Congrats Lstr123. An exciting day for you. How fancy Schmancy are you going with your stairs? We haven't allowed for anything in our tender and was planning to do a semi upgrade when we have our staircase appointment in a few weeks. Hubby has just had a heart attack when I told him $18k Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 377Apr 06, 2014 7:11 pm Wooden floating planks with a glass rail? The one as per the ambassador display home is &18500 but I was hoping to get something around the 12-15k mark. An expensive purchase but we will be widening our foyer so when u walk on u will the the bottom of the floating staircase and it will be a feature. I sort of figure "what's an extra 18k when ur already spending that much money.. Lol so I keep telling myself anyway! Twhjc - which consultant are u dealing with and what home are you building? Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 378Apr 06, 2014 7:21 pm Oh that is schmancy but will look stunning! We have been dealing with Colt at the Ponds who has been great. We loved the Ambassador as well but ended up going with a new design The Newport because our block is wide and it suits better. Our staircase changes direction half way up so we were thinking we would carpet the top half and go with wood on the bottom - depending on the price if course Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 379Apr 06, 2014 7:49 pm How funny. We have been dealing with him too. I think possibly he showed us abit of your plan to compare something of ours. Does your last name start with C? How cool. What stage are you up to? We've barely begun. Our land registers mid June so hoping to have it all set and ready to go for once it registers. That's a good idea re the staircase as no-one will see the top half. I haven't seen the Newport? Where is that on display. Am googling it right now! Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 380Apr 06, 2014 7:59 pm Haha yes that's us. We accepted the tender in Nov and finally signed our building contracts last Friday so we are moving now. A word of advice is to make sure to contact Colt if you are having any problems. He had been great in getting things back on track for us. The Newport is not on the website but check out my blog I put the initial plans on there. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 25830 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 18749 I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 10840 |
