That is exactly what I thought The velux skylights actually open and let you get airflow, even though you don't have a window. It is basically a window in the roof, which is classed as a skylight so you don't need strata/council permission I LOVE your taste! We are having black blinds too, roller ones though, and our floors in our old house looked like yours!
