Re: An acre to landscape and unable to find inspiration 8Feb 06, 2014 9:10 am Thank you for all the replies, they are truly helpful. I have been doing some more work on the design and will put another screenshot on here once i get the internet at home....Telstra still a work in progress. Basic changes are putting in three height terracing from right to left of the block with play area etc for our little girl. Little hard to explain but will be clearer once i put the picture up. Haven't started work as of yet as has been way to hot, we are near Wagga Wagga and been having 42 degree days. Waiting for the quote to come back for the retaining walls and then i will organise a dozer to come in and do a whole heap of work Thanks again everyone!!! Re: An acre to landscape and unable to find inspiration 9Feb 21, 2014 7:34 pm Looks like you have some great ideas. We have a house yard of similar size on our 6 acres that we are doing major house extensions and renovations at the moment. I am fortunate enough to have some heavy earth moving machinery at my disposal ( at a cheap price anyway) so I have been doing a lot of infrastructure work in the way of irrigation and churning the heavy clay soil in an attempt to improve it with organic matter. Anyhow, I would recommend you research poly pipe sizing as I believe 25mm is too small over a distance. I think poly pipe is measured outside diameter. I've gone 40mm through the majority of it, some 63mm (very expensive) some 2" rural, and finishing into 32mm. I believe that you can't go too big close to the pump, then reducing down further away would have less impact on flow and pressure. I have no formal qualification but a bit of practical experience. Agreed, if you are running any distance, as you would on a 6 acre block, I'd go for larger than 25mm polypipe. You start to get friction problems they tell me pushing water through 25mm on a long distance, which slows water flow if you are wanting to move water around... pressure isn't the issue. 40mm (1.5 inch) is a good size to run with, as it's still not all that hard to work with. 50mm starts to be bothersome to work with. And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do? Thanks for your help 2 10592 8 4444 I also notice that most the builds in Australia are really simplistic when it gets to the interior design and lighting design. Most of the builds are just offering off the… 3 1503 |
