Since there is brick price listed on Austral website for different brick. The Cat 1 is around $950/1000 brick, the Cat4 we choose is around $1111/1000 brick, we thought the upgrade will be (1111-950)*17,500 = $2, 817 The 6.5K quoted by PD seems a bit exsessive........ Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 329Dec 19, 2013 1:23 pm Scott, brick upgrades we found to be very expensive. We were quoted around $5k for upgrade to Cat 5 on a 24sq house. We went for a Cat 2 Austral which was around $2500. So while it might not seem reasonable, what you have quoted are the prices and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it lol Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 330Dec 19, 2013 9:21 pm meowsyScott, brick upgrades we found to be very expensive. Go figure. Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 332Dec 20, 2013 8:33 am I think the difference in price is that what you see on the Austral site is RRP, PD would get bulk purchase discounts. They must pick certain bricks and make these standard, so therefore have some sort of calculation that would estimate quantity and therefore they arrange a good price for them to buy from Austral. Then other bricks would be more expensive for them to purchase. Not saying that this explains such big price difference, however this is generally how Preferred Supplier Agreements would work. I am only guessing..... Interested to know how much credit PD will give for that? Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 335Dec 23, 2013 8:04 pm Scott, we upgraded our oven, it cost us $1000 extra.
