Make sure all the wires, pipes, wall straightness are all within tolerances. I think Missy had one done and her inspector found sisal wrap not fixed correctly, pipes fitted in an incorrect matter. She took the issues to the builder and they were fixed up! http://fourwallsandaroof.blogspot.com/ This is a link to her blog (worth a good look) that explains the inspections process really well! http://www.yourbuildinginspection.com/P ... w_home.htm I quite agree with the way they questioned why project home builders bypass free service of council inspection, and willing to spend extra money for a private certifier. Wonder how everyone feel about this. One other thing, so if my builder is using private certifier, shouldn't the council refund part of the application/inspection fee?? From the information they provided, looks like all project home builders are really evil and nasty $$ suckers! Cheers Allan http://building-our-first-house.blogspot.com/ Re: Building inspectors 13Jun 14, 2007 6:40 am Allan - your bank should also be organising appropriate inspections at stages of payment - perhaps you can get a copy of their report?
I'm a bit wary of businesses that appear to be scaremongering like that website you've posted. I'd check whether all of his qualifications are still current! I'd check whether all of his qualifications are still current! Let me know if you found anything on that! As he is running a franchise business, you would assume they would keep all those things up to date. Cheers Allan http://building-our-first-house.blogspot.com/ link 16Jun 16, 2007 11:21 am Hi Vlad
I think you might have just clicked the link above. I you click the main address www.yourbuildinginspection.com you get navigation etc, which is better. I clicked the previous link and it came up like one long page to scroll down! Regards Re: Building inspectors 17Jun 23, 2007 11:48 pm Allen,
Your builder will engage an outside quality assurance person for quality only. The council still do their 4 inspections (foundations, reinforcing, frame and final), but the builders QA guy will most likely do 2 inspections, pre-plaster an final. That is the info I am getting from the volume builders. We had an independant building inspection done of our PD home. There were only a couple of minor things he picked up on that the PD inspector hadn't already pointed out. Re: Building inspectors 19Aug 28, 2007 3:02 pm sorry to bring this topics up again, but handovers.com and Kevin's (newhomeinspection) have no representatives in Canberra.
I have searched the internet, most inspectors in canberra dealt with existing home, will they have same skills of the "new home" inspectors?. Any suggestions? oznow Re: Building inspectors 20Aug 28, 2007 3:12 pm my understanding is, for new homes, the inspectors must have license for structure engineering...
