Browse Forums Building A New House Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 273Oct 08, 2013 3:33 pm Thanks joshnjacqui, chapo6 & siddoInOz for your great advice... You're probably right re the planting, a bit of soil and tlc should do. I think with H1 i was more concerned with movements in the soil given its so reactive, i guess the H class slab will help and keeping any trees away from the house should manage that. Thanks for the heads up on the fire rating, that was one thing i didn't factor in, but I understand some regulatory changes and ratings in the area might occur in the next few months based on discussions with council. So those who can hold building until the changes are gazetted may get some benefit. Not too sure about the full details yet. SiddoInOz, I actually wanted to go with Wisdom but just couldn't find the floor plan to suit, I was impressed by the inclusions, and loved the double story homes, but the single storey just didn't have that feel we were looking for....good luck with your building. Re tiling, I was going to do flooring to living and bedrooms. Sekisui traded that with ducted aircon so I could select a better tile. I had a preliminary quote for $230k includes M slab, 2.6m ceiling to living areas, extra provision for downlights(25 in living areas), upgrade to 90mm half splayed skirting, caesar stone bench top, blanco appliances, ducted a/c, some decent changes to master bed by taking out 5th bedroom and basix. I will add $6k for slab, $10k for fire, $10k for driveway & side paths, $10k tiling & carpet, $2000 for minor landscaping, $5000 for fencing...brings it to $270k.... Hope that will do it. Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 274Oct 08, 2013 6:03 pm Be careful with Wisdom Homes. They are after your money...After the settlement, they will do all lousy jobs during maintenance of 3 months. They will not protect you in case of dispute. They will protect their sub-contractors. We are suing Wisdom Homes as we speak. They are not ethical. Just be careful that's all. Keep evidence on every step of your home building process. Check very details and voice out if you are not satisfy. Do not go ahead with final settlement if you don't have enough time to check everything properly. Otherwise you will not be able to ask them to fix if the major issues arise, especially TILES. Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 275Oct 09, 2013 7:45 am Phokay, generally companies that provide good or services are after money? Not the best idea to go spouting your opinion like that mate. You haven't given any details as to the situation and its not fair to the company or the people here building with them for you to be defaming them like that. I'm not even building with them but it really annoys me when people carry on. Not the place to do it. How is it helping anyone? Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 276Oct 09, 2013 10:03 am Sounds good Abe - good luck with the build I'd also budget for drop edge beams, upgrade mpa concrete - maybe $5k's worth. It's a shame Wisdom couldn't organise something for you floorplan wise, I'm sure we could sit down and work something out Wisdom do have the best inclusions in the industry in my opinion - this, the designs, and build quality is why we ended up going with them (before I worked here!). Just make sure you can get a fixed price before you start paying deposits etc so you're not hit with additional cost's later on (over and above $1-$2k unforeseen variables). Anyway, enough talk of cost's let's focus on the exciting times of planning and building your new home I spotted an error in my plans over the weekend - it's a shame as it's too late to change the footprint of the home as it has already gone to council but I've had to move an internal wall slightly to make things work. This may push me back a few days / week or so but fingers crossed they sort it quickly. Can't believe I didn't see it for all this time but at least I noticed it now. Phokay, I have to agree with joshnjacqui though I can understand your frustration. Regardless of who you build with (or any other service you pay for) it is imperative that you check the service has been carried out before paying for it in full. That's not to say you should not expect the work to be done as it should be, just to always check. I would offer my help to resolve this but it appears you have already taken the matter further - so I hope the outcome is suitable to the situation you are in. Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 277Oct 09, 2013 1:58 pm Phokay - It's upsetting when things go wrong but it doesn't help anyone to see these comments. Especially the people building with Wisdom. They are signed up and ready to go and feeling pretty excited which they are entitled to be. I also think it's not a good idea to rubbish the builders on these sites because they can easily read this stuff and I've read on other blogs that they do. Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 278Oct 09, 2013 2:40 pm Maybe they'll end up suing you, phokay.... for defamation. Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 279Oct 10, 2013 8:00 pm joshnjacqui and Pikey, I am almost certain that you are one of the employee from Wisdom Homes. You guys are not smart! I am here to warn everyone in general. But Wisdom Homes stands out because I built with them and I had a pretty bad experiences with them. I am not here to attack personally but company wise, we can talk about any company in public forum. Now you guys are the ones who are defaming and misleading so that other people cannot speak out their bad experiences? If this is nothing to do with you, get a life! I know Wisdom Homes is watching this kind of forum rather than doing the good job for their customers. Shame on you !!!!! Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 280Oct 10, 2013 10:23 pm Phokay thanks for your warning and your experience sounds very unpleasant. I think as most of us are trying to say is that here is not the place to voice such personal opinions. This is a place for people building or thinking of building in Manooka valley to chat. I noticed you have only recently joined homeone so perhaps you could create your own topic reg wisdom homes. I've read many reviews and followed many other topic threads reg wisdom homes. Prehaps in creating your own topic you might find others who share your opinion. I feel we have gone off topic here and the friendly mood and vibe of our thread has faded a little So to get back to it...my lot is still without a porta loo and fences The park looks so good though I can't wait to go for walks and have picnics under all those trees. There doesn't seem to be any BBQ's though, I guess I was just being hopeful thinking we might get one. Did you guys get the email reg stage 2 is now being released. Anyone else got there DAs approved now? Building a Wisdom Impression 33 5 bed + study, outdoor leisure + lanai, Jasper colorbond roof thanks guys! yes this is how I've exactly raised it with the builder. still awaiting response. 12 15783 I brought terry road box hill in June 2022 House was meant to be completed Nov 2023 That did not happen I had to chase them so much to the land Registration and… 0 10784 No idea about the driveway question, but your price for a house that size including landscaping seems very good! 1 22226 |
