It depends on your contract value (minus the sitecosts). I think it was 30, 32 or 36 weeks. We are in the 32 week category. This is from slab down to pci (not handover). You can add a couple of weeks for that. My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: DAH 6 months build time 5Sep 30, 2013 3:20 pm We were told it would be within 32 weeks from getting the slab which puts us into the second week of February. However, the contract states "within 200 working days from slab completion" which gives them until the first week of April. I'm not familiar with the payment policy but it wouldn't surprise me. In the end DAH construct so many homes it's probably easier for them to just go over time and hand over the cash. Re: DAH 6 months build time 6Sep 30, 2013 4:04 pm I would hope they would honour the guarantee. Its only $400 a week so im sure they will pay it. We had a few dramas with our letter. We were originally put in the 36 week category because our site costs were so big they pushed us over into the higher group. I argued that it doesnt include site costs and our clo came back and said as our house is quite large it will be 36 weeks. I politely pointed out that its not based on sqm but rather dollar value and they finally changed it! Ours will be finished at 29 weeks so it wasnt needed anyway. Lets hope yours runs on time too. We waited 7 weeks from slab down to bricks starting and we managed to catch up. My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: DAH 6 months build time 7Sep 30, 2013 6:43 pm Well $400pw will be peanuts in terms of the big picture. I'm sure they'll honour it if it comes to that. Re: DAH 6 months build time 8Oct 02, 2013 10:20 pm Thanks for the information everyone I contacted Dale Alcock today and the reason I can't find it in our contract is because it's not in there. Basically because we are providing our own kitchen handles it makes that part of the contract void (which nobody mentioned to us ) This seems pretty ludicrous to me to be honest, I don't see how providing handles can make any difference to this part of the contract. You are right $400pw won't make a lot of difference but at least I know that in their own interests it's going to cost them for every week over. As it stands they can have the standard 220working days (44 weeks) so why rush and employ more brickies if they don't have to. I'm very disappointed, and feel trapped and an idiot for not checking these things out. But I was gullible and I believed them being a reputable builder. Our CLO has been brilliant and I hate bothering her asking her all the time about brickies but they cannot even give me a timescale, so I could still be waiting 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, who knows. She has said that there is a shortage of brickies in the industry. I'm going I have to bite my tongue and sit it out, put up and shut up Dawnyc. I think you should ask to see where u agreed to that? U must have signed something to say your handles made the guarantee void? Hopefully u wont need it but like u said it is nice to know there is some incentive for them to build your house in a timely manner. My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: DAH 6 months build time 10Oct 03, 2013 10:51 pm Thanks Tracyw, I can't understand it myself. There is nothing written in the contract it's just been omitted, there is no agreement from us to omit it, so it's like it never existed in the first place. I got the standard response that it's void due to the client providing their own materials, nothing more of an explanation. Very frustrating. I really do hope that we don't need it either. what is worrying me is that surely they know that brickie A is busy until X and brickie B is busy until Y, therefore the next available brickie for us should be available on or around Z. (You can tell I do a lot of planning in my job! ) But they refuse to give me an approx date which makes me think it's a lot further away than they would like to tell me. It's 9 weeks tomorrow since the slab went down. She said they haven't even scheduled our brickies yet so it could be much, much longer than a month. In our contract it says 220 days but where in the contract does it say DAH will pay $400 a week? I couldn't find that bit. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: DAH 6 months build time 12Oct 10, 2013 8:01 am navs 4 weeks since slab down today and our CLO said we will be waiting at least a month for brickies. I couldn't find that bit. Hi navs, we couldn't find it in our contract so had to ask where it was, that's when they told me it was void because of the kitchen handles being supplied directly by us. I don't expect any movement now for another 4 weeks and it's 10 weeks tomorrow that the slab went down, seriously unhappy but absolutely nothing we can do about it. I've not had an update this week as I am assuming they don't want to tell me again that there is no news and no movement. Really sucks for all of us DAH builders 10 weeks is a long time to wait, I would contest the kitchen handles thing, that is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: DAH 6 months build time 14Oct 10, 2013 11:19 am I really feel for u guys. We waited 7 weeks for our bricklayers and I thought that was painful enough. Just hang in there, once bricks start you will see progress all the time!
