Rangehood installation........ Does this look like a quality job......let's not aim that high - would you consider this a passable job, is this how these rangehoods are meant to look once installed? We got a "PROFESSIONAL" to install it......... It's not level, it jiggles up and down when you hold the front corners and lift it up, the chimney extension looks crooked and moves when you putsh it toward the wall to try and fill the gap between the wall and the chimney part. The "PROFESSIONAL" couldn't find any studs in the right position - he assured me that gyprock fixers would hold the weight.....yeah?? Looks like it's going to fall off the wall at any minute. We have given them the opportunity to come back and fix it up....don't know what they plan to do with the gap in the ceiling and cornice.....he said yesterday that WE would just have to run some no more gaps around it.......and that WE would have to patch the hole he left halfway down the chimney. Re: Owner Building a PAAL Camden in the Lower Hunter Valley 152Sep 19, 2013 2:51 pm That rangehood flue cover is terrible. The heat and vibrations from work it's way loose from the plasterboard. I have another concern. It looks like you don't have a splashback. Not only is it a fire risk, but oil/fat will splatter and soak into the plasterwall. Are you planning on installing a splashback? I doubt it will pass Cert of Occupancy without one. Re: Owner Building a PAAL Camden in the Lower Hunter Valley 153Sep 19, 2013 9:17 pm Oh yes.... Splashback is going in AFTER the range installation is finished. As you see it now it has been pulled out of the ceiling hole and away from the wall so that the installer could patch a hole in the wall.......a few weeks pass.....we order some more plaster cornice.....wrong pattern turns up (apparently our fault ????).....re-order and re-pay for correct cornice.....a few more weeks pass...correct cornice delivered. It really has been a balls up in every instance lol !!! The installer is coming next week to finish the job - hopefully .....stay tuned. I think for your kitchen tiles would be more suitable. Furthermore you could install tiles right up to the cornices and then install the rangehood over the tiles. Anyway that's my opinion. Re: Owner Building a PAAL Camden in the Lower Hunter Valley 157Sep 25, 2013 8:25 am You're right of course.....tiles would suit better than glass as our house isn't ultra-modern. Thanks for the tip Looks like I'll be making a trip to the tile shop after all lol. Here I was taking the easy option....... Comes in sheets of 1000mm x 3000mm. From Italy, but locally from http://www.cdkstone.com.au/laminam/laminam The Italian site shows many other uses for it as well. http://www.laminam.it/en/ Re: Owner Building a PAAL Camden in the Lower Hunter Valley 159Sep 30, 2013 10:45 am I think I maybe miss the mess.........
