Browse Forums Building A New House Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 81Jul 19, 2013 10:15 am Thanks! He did his back, was pretty scary and spent overnight in hospital. How is your block of land going? ( We can aee your block, when were standing af ours)We had slab done last Sat and saw your block. Was surprised there still wasn't anything done to it. Could it be maybe as it was still quite wet? Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 82Jul 24, 2013 6:19 pm They started piers yesterday and it didn't turn out good. There were problems and holes needed to be refilled and back to engineers. We don't really know what or why there were issues but its not happening at the moment for us. Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 84Jul 31, 2013 6:59 pm Cut a long story short, they had to redesign the slab to suit the land, which added thousands of $$$$, which was generously passed on to us. You guys must be at brick stage now, how is it all going??? Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 85Jul 31, 2013 9:00 pm Your kidding! Oh that is such bad news. How unfair that you have to fork out the cash out- sorry to hear. We had our app with Costa on Monday and received the quote today... Almost $10,000!!!! In saying that we did put a lot of stuff on quote that we didn't think we would get.. We just wanted to see the cost. We do have to eliminate a lot. How did you go with your quote? Yes, frames went up last week, windows and sliding door were done yesterday and today the brickwork commenced!!! Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 86Aug 02, 2013 6:26 pm Our Costa's quote came in under 5k. There wasn't a lot in we asked for. I think will just stick to the important things like extra power points and can the rest. Do you have a finish date at this stage yet?? Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 87Aug 02, 2013 8:02 pm That's ok. Yeah we did put a lot of things we had never before considered just to see how much it would come to, but yeh def have to bring that price right down. I tried to ask Beechwood about the finish date, but they said they couldn't say at this stage so I am going by the contract where it says 27weeks. If I go by that, should be done by Jan. How about you guys, how are things going?? Re: ANYONE BUILDING. AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 88Aug 14, 2013 8:20 pm Hi Denbar just a quick update, finally piered and formed ready for slab so things are moving along now. How is yours going??? Hopefully its full steam ahead with no more set backs Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 89Aug 14, 2013 9:29 pm Hi hammo4, great to hear that things are moving along for you guys!! We are now waiting for roof tiles to go on. So frames, windows, sliding doors, bricks and gutters done! Hopefully they take advantage of the great weather were having!! Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 90Aug 19, 2013 7:32 pm If all goes well we will have a slab on Wednesday. Saw your roofer hard at it on the weekend. Still very frustrating dealing with the office people, however the workers on site all seem helpful. Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 91Aug 19, 2013 10:27 pm Hammo4 that's fantastic, hopefully slab down for you guys by end of week! Oh so they were working over the weekend on roof? We stopped by on Sat arvo and noticed they had prepared the tiling on roof. Brother on law messaged us last night (they live in Harrington park and drive past regularly for us) saying that the roof was complete. We thought he may have got it confused with the roof load but if u saw them working Sunday, maybe roof is finished!! We have noticed office ppl not as good with getting back to us now when we contact them. Sent our consultant an email today to get a time line on what's due to happen next. Lets see how long it takes to get back to us, that's if they reply. Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 92Aug 24, 2013 8:47 pm Yes finally we have a slab and told frames and windows should be delivered by the end of the week. Did the office people get back to you??? we have Sandra and unfortunately she doesn't like getting back to any of our enquiries. They are super keen sending invoices out to us, even before the job is completed but ignoring enquires. Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 93Aug 24, 2013 8:52 pm Yes, I saw your slab- was excited for you! We Also have Sandra. She started off well responding to our queries but a few weeks in responses slowed down unless she was chasing up on something. I sent her 2 emails this week.. She did respond with to the second one. Roof tiles done. Next week rough in for electrical work and eaves should be done ' Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 96Aug 27, 2013 8:39 pm We are just going to get them to do extra power points and some light battens, will get our own electrician to do the rest. Did you end up scaling back much on your electrical wish list??Just had our external plumbing done and now waiting for frames. How's all your building inspections going? do the site supervisors meet you on site to go through the different stages??. Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 98Sep 05, 2013 7:19 am Hammo4 yes we cut back the quote by more than half. Did get a few things that we weren't initially thinking about getting, but my partner really thought we should just do it. To be honest we don't even know if we had an building inspections carried out, are we supposed to be included in those? Last week we wrote to Sandra saying we wanted to meet the foreman and be shown around the house, which she organised quite quickly. He said he was lil dissapointed as he thought more to the build would have happened by now, and will continue to keep an eye on it. He also said there is a good chance we may be in home by December!!! I'm trying not to get too excited in case that doesn't happen!! Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 100Sep 07, 2013 3:03 pm hey denber, your house is looking really good!!! if this great weather continues, they should have it finished and have you in your new home in no time. did you guys get an air conditioner through the builder?? we didn't really think about it at the time but we may need to look at getting one.
