If you have a moment could you please go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and post your provider and results? My speeds are pretty dismal. Hey Ryan Do you mind telling me which provider you are with and would you recommend them? With Opticomm, do you have to sign up with one of their providers or could I still go with Telstra and just have ADSL+2? Thanks Re: Anyone building with Mirvac @ Parkbridge Middleton grang 930Jun 28, 2013 9:48 am markf_ 13 Do you mind telling me which provider you are with and would you recommend them? Check this page http://www.opticomm.net.au/index.php/co ... l-partners. You can only sign up for internet with one of these providers and unfortunately Telstra is not on that list. I do a lot of work from home so i'm on a large plan. I'm actually on hold with iiNet right now to discuss my speeds. I'm getting around 10Mpbs which is ADSL speeds. Hopefully it's just a hardware issue. Oh i'm not sure about the ADSL connection, but why would you want to though? I suggest you go fibre Re: Anyone building with Mirvac @ Parkbridge Middleton grang 931Jun 28, 2013 10:04 am RyanEK markf_ 13 Do you mind telling me which provider you are with and would you recommend them? If you are getting ADSL speeds then I would prefer just to stick with Telstra. Have you always had those speeds or is it just recent? I haven't heard much about iiNet so would be weary about signing up on a plan with them. Do you know anyone else in the estate who is experiencing slower speeds? If they are going to promote high fibre optic speeds you expect to get it, especially when you are paying a higher rate for it. Re: Anyone building with Mirvac @ Parkbridge Middleton grang 932Jun 28, 2013 10:27 am I have a feeling it's a problem with my hardware. I've been told by iiNet that my speeds should be at least 70Mpbs. I'll be troubleshooting the problem with them later today so i'll keep you posted on the results. It would be great if other residents could post their speeds, but other than that I'm not sure if mine is just an isolated problem. Do you mind me asking which plan you are on? Is it a bundled package with your phone etc? Hey Ryan, Im with iinet too on the 25mbps speed and so far I have tested the speed several ways and I've been able to get around the 23mbps mark. Which router are you using, have you tried pluggin in directly into the modem to see and difference in speeds? At the moment Opticomm only has a handful of providers for the internet connection, and Telstra isn't one of them. And you can't get ADSL as there are no copper lines, even for the phone line you will have to sign up for VOIP or try to get an ISP to open the POTS port on the modem for you (iinet and internode don't offer this anymore). Ah Tony, is opticomm charging you another fee for sending out the techie again? I know they told me that if im not on site when the techie comes I would have to pay another fee for them to come out again. Hope that is not the case and mirvac acts quickly to fix the conduit (it may be a pain to fix it though specially after construction) Re: Anyone building with Mirvac @ Parkbridge Middleton grang 936Jun 28, 2013 3:51 pm Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm not using a router at all as I tested the connection from the Opticomm box straight to my laptop. I called iiNet who advised me to download a file three times simultaneously from their site ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/. The added speed of these files is supposed to give a better indication of your line speed. I was only getting 400kb/s on each file. It should be at least 1mb per file. @Mark, i'm on the 100/40 plan with iiNet which just covers just the internet. We find that our mobile phones is enough for us so we don't feel the need for a land line. I think they will charge me again as the tech couldnt finish the job because of the broken conduit... I hope mirvac can fix this for us ASAP... Re: Anyone building with Mirvac @ Parkbridge Middleton grang 939Jul 04, 2013 12:00 am Hi All, I have finally settled on our land (01.07.13)!!! Can you believe it? I think we might be officially the last residents to complete build and move in. Apologies upfront now, but I'm hoping to seek your assistance on a lot of questions that will come up.
