Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2711May 31, 2013 8:23 am abiggerhouse Vatche I visited the site today at lunch time. The Telstra phone junction box was installed. I rang Telstra and after 30 min on the phone, we had our phone line connected, tested (line level testing) and done. We even get to keep our old number. This was the easiest service connection ever! Who would have thought Telstra would be the easiest and fastest connection to get!!!! We thought we were connected shortly after PCI too, and I didn't even bother to check if there was a dial-tone, so confident I was that all was fine... Then we moved in and we had no dial tone. It turns out Beeman Communications install the luka box, and run the trench to the street common area, but cannot terminate into Telstra... so I had to log a line fault and it took them 2 weeks to connect it up. Crazy stuff. How would Beeman Comms know where to terminate on the kerbside junction? I might arm myself with a phone next week and check, if no tone, then raise a line fault. Thanks for the heads up jo&waz Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2713May 31, 2013 8:50 am abiggerhouse nubear01 Wow onebighappyfamily I think we have now overtaken you! I think we must be one of the lucky ones or that our supervisor is very organised! Our brickies finished a while ago & our roof is almost done (not sure why but they havnt come back to do the corners yet), electrical wiring & ducting got started today! I hope things do go smoothly for you from now on & we may still just finish at the same time We are going for a walk through with our site supervisor next Wednesday so might take some internals then Looks fabulous Nubear! Nubear - it wasnt the fault of our supervisor as he is very organised, it just happened to be a setback with the brickies who I must say are doing a fabulous job - at least five years from now I can look at it and it will still be perfect. It doesnt help either that we have an extra 60sqm residence on the back to do as well. Our SS said they will be finished early next week then the roof (a team) the next week so that will finish all that. He has organised every other tradie to either run off eachother or to be there at same time so we will get back on track - in fact the electrical is coming in today to do conduits for the pillars. abiggerhouse - I think everything will go as planned now. Yep, they did the line check. On that advice, I pressed ahead and even had iiNet install ADSL on it. Imagine our dismay to not only have no line sync, but no dial tone. Better to check now rather than later. Beeman aren't allowed to terminate in the Telstra pit - they only told me that after I complained I had no dialtone. Just tell Telstra you have no dial tone. They have a 2 week SLA, and they fixed ours on the evening of the last day - LOL Masterton Villina 36 - 2011 Jul-SLAB Aug-FRAME Nov-BRICK+ROOF Dec-INSUL Jan-GYPROCK Feb-LOCKUP Mar-PCI Apr-KEYS+MOVE May-Driveway+Landscaping Blog - http://new-lindfield-house.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2715May 31, 2013 4:58 pm The fence has been taken away. Apart from the dunny in the middle, the house is now standing by itself. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The electricity to the grid is finally connected. I'll keep you posted on this. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The security system and keypad also installed with all of the door and PIR sensors. What? you expected photos of them too? Sorry, no can do. But it is a back to base dial-up system. Still no stairway carpets, gas meter or signs of excavation for the rainwater detention tank. Will M make it on time? The mask tape won't stick longer due to hot roof temperature, and also has weak strength. Ricaaaa Our roof tiles are on!!! however the lower roof tiles still need to be completed over the garage and alfresco. Our neighbour is working near the house and he told us that it only took them a day to complete the roof!!! We also had our antenna installed. They cut the sarking >.< kinda seems pointless to have the sarking if there is a big hole where the antenna pole comes through the roof, does anyone know if this will be fixed up?? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also had some deliveries, but I think someone has come and stolen some of the stuff as we went again to the land today to move bricks and I can't remember seeing the stuff there mind you we don't have a back fence as the people behind us have had the fence removed as they are near completion so there is easy access to our place Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2718Jun 01, 2013 4:47 am dsa39 Right then, so I'm no whizz but I do know all we have in the estate is ADSL 1 not even 2 which is mind boggling. This is why I'm thinking T will be the go as we are so far removed from most services. What do u think? Not a fan of ADSL 1. Do they offer cable? I think we pay $60 for 50 GB. Not the cheapest but fast. HD Our thread.
