Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2522May 15, 2013 6:23 pm MJ Overture Don't worry too much, from reading this thread you see many people experiencing quiet patches then all of a sudden an influx of work happens. Not because it is being rushed through but because their SS has organized a number of trades to come in during the same period. I'm sure your home will look just lovely!! Thanks once again - I know it will but it can be so frustrating. Vatche - thanks also - I have watched what you have gone through and can see your point. It is that everything seemed to be moving along so well and then nothing. My hubby tells me I worry too much at times but after all these long months of ups and downs (especially downs prior to building) I cannot help it - it is the last thing I think of at night and the first in the morning - OMG - think I need to see someone about this addiction Symphony MBTF/granny flat Jun-Dec Dep/Plans/air/alarm/tiles/clrs Jan Elec/DA app Feb CC Mar 20day Apr Slab/frame May Bricks Jun Roof/wiring/insulat Jul Gyprock/lockup/kitchen Sep PCI/handover Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2523May 15, 2013 7:12 pm Budorat Hey everyone, If you are struggling to come to terms with how your house will look based on your brick/facade/colour selections, then I suggest checking out New Home Visuals. http://www.newhomevisuals.com/ They take your elevations, your selections (you fill in a form) and turn it into something you can see to determine if your choices work together or not. Dan was super fast with ours, we submitted our request last night, this morning received an email for payment via PayPal, and by lunch time had completed image. Dan also emailed a few times to clarify a few points on our elevation such as the external light fitting and the material used on the column near the front door. For the record, I am in no way affiliated with New Home Visuals.... we just used their service today and think they are brilliant, and a service this great is worth sharing.... before Kev why didn't i know about this earlier!!!! Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2524May 15, 2013 10:00 pm Onebighappyfamily - I feel your pain! We seem to have gone backwards - no bricks laid in the last two days and today the took away the cement mixer and wheelbarrows. I hope they are clearing space for scaffolding and that the brickies haven't just moved on! Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2525May 16, 2013 6:25 am Hi houseofrock and onebighappy family; what you are experiencing is normal. It does become an obsession so anything you can do to take your mind off it will help as otherwise what is a normal period of time can seem like eternity. Every brick will seem like it takes a week to lay. There are various reasons but trust me its all normal. Try online shopping like i did and then spend a week carting the boxes to your new house wondering why you bought the stuff LOL viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46741 Clovelly - Masterton Homes 5% to M 290312 CDC 21/06 20 days 29/08 Slab 17/09 Frame 26/09 Bricks 24/10 Roof tiles 20/11 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2526May 16, 2013 7:42 am dsa39 Try online shopping like i did and then spend a week carting the boxes to your new house wondering why you bought the stuff LOL Just read and laughed my a55 off! Might have to find something else to keep my mind off it! Found out today that they will be back tomorrow and will definitely be there till finish so i might be able to start to rest easy. At the moment the front of the house looks like a rubbish tip I'm sure they will have to clean it up soon, as they need to dig for the underground rainwater detention tank. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2533May 16, 2013 9:13 pm Hi All, it's been a while since our last post, our build experience has soured a bit due to the SS creating a council compliance issue by workers cutting through a tree root of our neighbours tree that had a protection order on it making it unstable and the neighbour doesnt want to cut it down arrrghhhh now Masterton are just ignoring us and the issue hoping it will all go away so we have no meaningful contact with the SS he seems to have no interest in the build at all. Painters were in last week, but no sign of anyone this week, who knows what the plan is as he won't return calls or emails! Just can't wait for it all to be over now, after building our first home with Masterton over 30 years ago..................although we are hopeful of a good quality build we are very dissapointed with some of the people that make up this company now 12 DA 22/6 Tiles 11/8 Aircon/Sent 17/8 Colours 24/8 Contract 24/8 Demo 5/10 Scrape 6/11 Slab 20/11 Frame 30/11 13 Roof 15/2 Insulation 25/3 Paint 8/5 Garage door 22/5 PCI 30/5 Keys 21/6 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2534May 16, 2013 9:20 pm MJ Overture Random question to all, what items did you upgrade in the colours/internal stage? Water point for fridge $250 Phone cabling from house to street $443 external ducting for rangehood $875 We did the same upgrades too. We opted for Gold Mansion Package that included some internal upgrades. shireduplex, we are/were on the same timeline. Sorry to hear you are having issues as well as comm issues with SS & M. Why does M have such an issue with communicating with their clients? I said this before and say it again. One of M's biggest failures is COMMUNICATION WITH CLIENTS. A return call to say "I'm not available now, will look into it in a month's time" Still somewhat comforting to know something will get done. Not returning a clients' request for concern, is really really really BAD for business. No matter how busy you are! Keep us posted on your progress. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2536May 17, 2013 8:42 am Vatche - looks great Shireduplex - sorry to hear things have gone off the rails - I hope they make amends quickly We got scaffolding yesterday and we have workmen today. I will post photos at the weekend Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2537May 17, 2013 8:51 am Thanks Shireduplex Did anyone find themselves upgrading many items such as internal doors, fixtures, tiles , down lights or did you find that the standard range was sufficient? We were thinking of getting downlights throughout our home but that depends on the costs involved. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2539May 17, 2013 4:12 pm MJ Overture Thanks Shireduplex Did anyone find themselves upgrading many items such as internal doors, fixtures, tiles , down lights or did you find that the standard range was sufficient? We were thinking of getting downlights throughout our home but that depends on the costs involved. LED downlights are getting cheaper by the day, but I think M's sub-contractor is still charging too much for them. I would look around and get prices first, before getting M to do it. If M is charging $10-15 more per downlight, then I would choose M, as it gets done before hand-over and less hassle. As I always say, do the research and price compare. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 3.0 2540May 17, 2013 4:26 pm So much for the brickies being back on the job today. Went past this afternoon and no-one has been there at all - hubby says to wait till Monday and then speak to M - had to control my mum though as she wanted to stomp all the way up the M5 to Warwick Farm today and give them a piece of her mind.
