Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design 1 Apr 21, 2009 10:22 am Hi all. Our local Current Affairs show last night had a story on how downlights are a fire risk. They say that there's one fire a week caused by downlights. We're planning on having lots of downlights throughout our new house. What's the risk? Is it if you install them yourself? (which we're not planning on doing). Is the type of insulation a problem? Are there better types of downlights that aren't as risky as others? I don't want our new house burning down just because we wanted pretty lighting! If we're put on this earth to help others, what are the others here for? Also, make sure that the lights are in a safe distance from your ceiling insulation.
