Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 15, 2023 5:02 pm Have had 2 goes at applying floor leveller to level an alfresco sloped concrete floor with mixed results. The floor leveller works well when the thickness is less than about 25mm but lifts in thicker areas despite good prep with mechanical grinding and priming. The lifting becomes noticeable after about 1 to 3 months and appears to be confined to where the leveller exceeds 25mm thick which incidentally is also the area exposed to rain. Maximum depth is 50mm. Leveller was tiled over with travertine tiles... silicon expansion joints between tiles and outer walls. Alfresco is 4.5m x 4.5m In the thicker areas the leveller was bulked with small stone chips in accordance with manufacturer application guidelines. Somewhat frustrated and don't want to jack hammer everything up since about 70% of the floor is still sound after 6 months so thinking of lifting the drumming areas plus a bit more for measure and then using screed in these thicker areas. Any thoughts on whether screed would be more appropriate and what bonding agent is best suited for outdoor areas? Was thinking of using bondcrete with cement slurry but almost everything I read says pva or acrylic based agents should not be used if moisture will be an issue. Re: Screed bonding agent for external applications 2May 15, 2023 6:57 pm Before you rip it up, if you can in the grout lines, drill some holes and pour/inject techgrip by sika. I have used it to bond mdf to timber, but in the process it dripped onto my concrete. I had to mechanically remove it. It says it's good for concrete. It expands so it will fill the void. Just a wild idea. Hi all, We're curring working on our outdoor and have some questions in relation to screed. I've tried to find information online, without success. I am… 0 5379 Levelling compound also works well for this, you can feather it and it doesn’t self level at this low thickness , you can build up in layers if need be. 2 7439 |
