Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 11, 2021 10:17 am I’m thinking of getting new laminate flooring done on top of the existing hardwood flooring and was wondering if it’d be worth going with products from Quick Step or Kronotex compared to cheaper brands. I was also wondering if it’d be cheaper and still reliable to use an independent layer for installation rather than going with contractors from Carpet Court. The floor is quite flat and solid but there is one small area where sanding may be required due to a small slope of around 3mm or a bit more over 1m near a door. Door length will be trimmed later on at my cost. Contractor layer from Carpet Court wouldn’t come out for a look unless deposit was paid. One of the benefit to go with reputable manufacturer / supplier is the after sale service. I don't want to mention the brand - but this is one of those brands that you will see in all the bigger shops, similar to QuickStep / Kronotex. Now - I have issue with my installation. The manufacturer / supplier came out to inspect; and have been great to deal with. They came into agreement with the shop on resolution - and now we are on track to have the floor re-installed once the lockdown is over. I am sure there was blaming game happening behind the scene; but they did not put it on me. For me personally this is a bonus. I am sure that there is no significant difference between those reputable brands and the relatively cheaper ones out there. But buying fa reputable brand give you that safety net if something goes wrong. If you need details of the issue or the brand, just PM me Thank you fro your response, Simeon.
