Last night's racing was spectacular for all the wrong reasons - Adam Hanson, an Aussie, crashed in the first 20km's and then completed 200km's with a a broken rib, a broken collarbone AND a broken sternum Then the final 3km was very crashtacular and lets not even mentioned that bloody dog - hrmmm! Thanks Donuts 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' There was a break of 8 which contained a Melbourne boy (Matty Lloyd) who was going for some king of the mountain points, and he got some but not enough for the polka dot jersey tonight. Then on one of the narrow descents which was wet a motorbike cameraman went down and caused some of the riders to fall and really smashed up the field - Andy Schleck (one of the favourites on team Saxo Bank) was one of the people to come down and it really looked like he broke his collarbone (he still may have) but his bike was toast so ha team mate gave him his bike to use so that he could try to get back to the peleton (main group of cyclists)! Some of his team mates went to the back of the field (Jens! and others, but Jens worked really hard on the front of the group) to bring him back to the peleton and his other team mates at the front of the peleton, Cancellara - the current yellow jersey holder (leader of the race) and everyone else decided to neutralise the peleton (they don't attack, they actually slow down) until those that came down in the accident got back to the group - nice one gents! What this means though is that now Team Saxo Bank wont be leading the event and wont have the yellow Jersey as there was someone (Chavanel) away before the accident (he did 180kms at the front!) and managed to stay away and has enough of a lead to take the yellow Jersey! This is kinda cool as earlier this year Chavanel had a racing crash and cracked his skull and was in an induced coma, so it's kinda cool that he is a) going to win the stage and b) get the yellow jersey! After yesterday's crashtastic finish and today's stupid accident, the riders in the peleton all decided not to even sprint for the finish as a sign of respect and a protest for the conditions of the roads and a protest as such - good on them, that's awesome - the best way to be heard by the organisers if you ask me and a huge sign of respect but at the end of the day they are still meant to be racing.... Re: Help me decide - French recipes 119Jul 06, 2010 9:37 am kek We only watched the first hour and a half - had to get to bed. But you can't sleep anyway! The other day I was wondering how long it would take for a dog to cause an incident, turned out to be not long at all! Combined with the sight of all those exposed bollards in Holland and that horrible pile-up during the sprint to the line on Day 1, I think the whole management of the event is starting to look amateurish compared to the professionalism of the teams themselves. I know the crowds add to the spectacle too, but it might be time to install some temporay fencing in some places methinks. Geoff - Decophile.
