I require four outdoor cameras. Besides the wifi, I'm fairly flexible on features. I see a fair few Swann ones but I'm not sure about the quality? I would like a package for sub $1,000. Thoughts? Re: Latest recommendations on wireless cameras 2Jan 29, 2017 11:37 pm I'd say you'd better be prepared to be disappointed. Why bother with wifi cams when you're going to need to get power there for the power packs, why not run an ethernet cable instead and install a PoE cam? Re: Latest recommendations on wireless cameras 3Jan 29, 2017 11:39 pm Anyone seen the Ring brand of cameras? They look pretty good Re: Latest recommendations on wireless cameras 5Feb 17, 2017 7:22 pm I've heard a lot of positive reviews about this one https://www.ubnt.com/unifi-video/unifi-video-camera-g3/. I will be installing it as some point in the future. For now I'm putting CAT6 where it will be installed. Re: Latest recommendations on wireless cameras 6Feb 17, 2017 7:59 pm My only concern with this camera is that it doesn't state anywhere that it is ONVIF complaint which means that potentially you may not be able to add it any ONVIF complaint NVR, CMS server, etc. You may be locked into their proprietary management hardware, apps and software. Re: Latest recommendations on wireless cameras 7Feb 17, 2017 9:33 pm True, it looks like there is no API, for some reason I thought you could access it using z-wave. https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Vid ... rue#M45324 Re: Latest recommendations on wireless cameras 8Feb 23, 2017 1:09 pm For the new house I'm building, I've got a Ring doorbell camera and I will be installing Ring video cameras externally as well. https://ring.com/stickupcam I'm loving their new sensor light and alarm system - lights, camera, siren, and ability to speak to the thief as well. May get 1-2 of these for some places and regular stick-up cams for other spots. https://ring.com/floodlightcam Will wait until I've moved in to decide which I get. It's all about wireless, self install now. The cost/benefit of wired setups for the house are no longer what they used to be. Lots of wireless options. Eufy, Arlo and… 2 10474 Update from me!
