Latest recommendations on wireless cameras

Seems to be 12+ months since this topic has been discussed...

I'm looking for recommendations on wireless (wifi) cameras. I require four outdoor cameras. Besides the wifi, I'm fairly flexible on features.

I see a fair few Swann ones but I'm not sure about the quality?

I would like a package for sub $1,000.

Thoughts?

I'd say you'd better be prepared to be disappointed. Why bother with wifi cams when you're going to need to get power there for the power packs, why not run an ethernet cable instead and install a PoE cam?

Anyone seen the Ring brand of cameras? They look pretty good

+1 to what Bels said. WiFi cams are also cheap/easy to defeat.
That said, I use HikVision cams (you can get wired PoE and WiFi models)

I've heard a lot of positive reviews about this one https://www.ubnt.com/unifi-video/unifi-video-camera-g3/. I will be installing it as some point in the future. For now I'm putting CAT6 where it will be installed.

My only concern with this camera is that it doesn't state anywhere that it is ONVIF complaint which means that potentially you may not be able to add it any ONVIF complaint NVR, CMS server, etc. You may be locked into their proprietary management hardware, apps and software.

For the new house I'm building, I've got a Ring doorbell camera and I will be installing Ring video cameras externally as well.

I'm loving their new sensor light and alarm system - lights, camera, siren, and ability to speak to the thief as well. May get 1-2 of these for some places and regular stick-up cams for other spots.
