1st time building WA

We finally took the plunge and commenced our building journey late last year. Just sharing our journey, please feel free to comment, leave suggestions and let us know if there are specific things we should be looking out for at each stage.

We presented our concept sketch to the builder and they brought it to life. Our initial design now belongs to the builder LOL.
Design - PPA - Variations - Contracts - Prestart - Variations - Demolition - more Variations ... a bit lengthy but its all behind us now... fast forward to the present - Construction stage

Construction Timeline:

2019
August - Site work and slab stage
September/October - Brickwork
October - Upper floor truss installed
The weather was on our side, it was a bright sunning day when the slab was poured. Then it rain for a couple of days afterwards.

Great plan, your master bedroom is huge!

Front brick work

Lounge room wall adjacent front door

Laundry wall (exposed brick)
That's looking good! Bricklayers tend to be a bit messy with the internal brick, we felt the same way with our build. Your face brick is very neat though.

Thanks amilelka, that's reassuring to know.

How is your build progressing?

We're shuffling along comfortably. We can almost see the end of the build in sight, but getting overwhelmed with all the things we need to do post handover!

Today went to meet with the site supervisor and it seems to be progressing along nicely. Supervisor is happy with the brickwork and went through the process. He assures that once the truss is complete, it will be checked and signed off by a qualified engineer and himself.

Upper floor truss system delivered and installed. Should be complete by early next week.

That's great. Can't wait to see your interior.

Do you have a post handover to do list? Would be handy for me to start planning. This is our first build and its been a steep continuous learning curve that doesn't seem to end
Accidentally meet our plasterer on the weekend. He dropped by to scope the work.

Our upper floor truss is completed and the plasterers were there today to render the front elevation.

Scaffolding has been erected and upper floor slab is expected to be poured tomorrow. Hopefully it will go ahead, with perfect weather tomorrow and expected rain on Wed through to Friday, the timing is just right.
We had a change in site supervisor and the slab was poured a week later then anticipated.

Fast forward 4 weeks and we have the upper frame and roof structure installed.
