Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 26, 2016 3:23 pm So I thought it was time to start a thread on our build to track everything that we choose and change etc... PLUS it will provide some inspiration to some of the other people building this design.
So we are currently selling our first henley that we built 2.5 years ago as we have come to realise we would like some more land for our future children! The reason we chose the Palace Lux Q1 over the Palace Q1 was due to it being slightly cheaper, but also because it had more bulkheads through out the house such as the dining room which we felt was a lot nicer. Here are some of the changes/additions we have put on so far: - Raise height od ceilings to 2700 - Added pivot door - raised height of all doors on ground level - Upgraded to glass doors for all doors on ground level - Theatre doors and wiring - reconfigured the Kitchen - Door to under stairs (sliding in butlers) - Glass door from garage to butlers (looks better) - Square set to the whole house - Double glazing - raised height of alfresco doors to 2300 - Extended vanity in the ensuite and moved the window to the middle of the basins - added a window to the shower, openable - added 350mm width to the garage (its all our block would allow) - added a store room to the back of the garage (runs inline with the butlers) - Going with the Urban facade - Outdoor tap to balcony (makes it easier to hose down) - Gas, hot and cold water points to the alfresco - Upgraded the butlers pantry - removed the WIR railings in the master - Upgraded the heating to be zoned - added an alarm system - added the premium luxury lighting package - adding the window splash back to the kitchen, however modifying it to go all the way to the base of the cabinets - waterfall bench tops - Pull out bin (largest option) I cant remember anything else from the top of my head, but we also have the style up option so that will add the Smeg, pot draws and 40mm stone, undermount sink When I have more I will add it Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 2Sep 26, 2016 4:24 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the facade we have decided to go with the options with Balconys were very thin and other than teh austin which was extremely expensive, this is the one we have decided to go with. We will be looking to make a few changes The reason we went with this facade is that the balcony was slightly bigger than that of the grange facade and we liked the configuration of this one, the only issue is we have no idea how its going to look in real life Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 4Sep 26, 2016 5:03 pm pri7780 Hi ! Looks great! What was all the extras on top of the base price? The base price was 293900 and so far we have gotten it up to 361k! We are doing things like flooring after handover! So I have a fealing we will end up around the 390k mark by the time we finish it all Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 5Sep 26, 2016 5:06 pm stayxtrue pri7780 Hi ! Looks great! What were your site costs? Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 6Sep 26, 2016 5:15 pm pri7780 Oh wow! Im planning on building the q2 version and hopefully i don't get carried away with extras! What were your site costs? OUr site costs ended up being near the 7k mark because we added a few bits an pieces to the house which extended the slab a bit more! We only have 300mm of fall so its not too bad Where abouts are you building? Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 7Sep 26, 2016 5:31 pm stayxtrue pri7780 Oh wow! Land titles next year so put in a deposit with Henley to lock in current pricing and promotion. Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 8Sep 26, 2016 5:33 pm Ah nice! I am building in the South East in clyde north! We locked in our price when they had the kitchen style up! So we are quite happy with that promotion Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 9Sep 26, 2016 5:39 pm pri7780 Building in Truganina in Albright estate. As they have removed all of the facades and only left 4 to choose from now! Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 10Sep 26, 2016 6:03 pm Awesome, take it you decided to stick with Palace instead of Sahara... personally i do love the palace more than Sahara but I'm just weird! Nice facade, have you thought about getting bricks instead of fc sheet to garage? It really makes a difference. Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! Can you confirm the door type to under stairs please from pantry. We were denied a sliding door as door height only 1350. What is your door height and where did you position it in pantry? Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 12Sep 26, 2016 8:43 pm PEARZ Awesome, take it you decided to stick with Palace instead of Sahara... personally i do love the palace more than Sahara but I'm just weird! It was more that for a similar size house we were going to have a bigger back yard by 2metres and one side was going to have more space! So it was a no brainer Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 13Sep 26, 2016 8:44 pm spice girl Hey stayxtrue, great to see you have started your own thread! Can you confirm the door type to under stairs please from pantry. We were denied a sliding door as door height only 1350. What is your door height and where did you position it in pantry? Oh we are still waiting to hear back! I really wanted it to be sliding as if they can't do it I will make them find a way haha!! We are putting it in the butlers pantry Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 14Sep 26, 2016 9:23 pm We didn't find out til tender. When is your tender? Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 15Sep 27, 2016 7:30 am spice girl We didn't find out til tender. When is your tender? Our tender is going to be a long way off yet! As we are still finalising all of our structural changes, now the missus is unsure about the pantries and wants to remove them but keep the b much flipped and slightly longer. We may change the internal door from the garage to be in the hall way so that we have the extra room in the butlers and put shelving on that back wall but still got plenty of time to think about it all Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 16Sep 27, 2016 7:31 am Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 17Sep 27, 2016 7:40 am Totally understand! There are so many different options its difficult to be sure which is the best one. Fortunately our lands are not titled yet and time is on your side. We retained the door in butlers pantry to garage but had it opening into the garage. It does make our pantry very busy as it also has opening to laundry using sliding door. As our garage is a living space we also put double doors from hallway to garage under the bulkhead next to stairs. We are hoping to change them after handover to another design we saw at bunnings. Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 18Sep 27, 2016 7:53 am Interesting as our ensuite window is openable. Our windows on stairwell and WIR on façade are fixed. Yea we are going to be puting the door to the side as well but closing the butlers off, we will be also putting in the glass door as I find this is just a far better look and all of the displays have it like that so we have decided to do the same thing. Re: Henley Palace Lux Q1 Build Thread 20Sep 27, 2016 9:28 am Glass doors look great but our cost was getting too high for my liking. We did put glass translucent to laundry from butlers. We also plan to changeover double doors and butlers pantry door to a very nice glass patterned triple glaze doors from bunnings after handover if we have the cash.
