Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building at Catherine Park 241Jun 12, 2018 10:24 pm Oh no bugslife hopefully nothing too bad! We actually have a bit of a list ourselves, not that we are meant to be on site... Hopefully can all be rectified in a short time frame.. we are praying it doesn’t blow out! We got excited and bought heaps of furniture and appliances and it’s all on back order due to be delivered pretty soon. Don’t want to have to put it in storage or have any financial ramifications.. igzzz how did you guys go with your defect list? Hopefully it wasn’t too extensive! your build timeline sounds great. I think we are coming up to that now. Re: Building at Catherine Park 243Jul 09, 2018 8:11 am bugslife @Kurdie we were just checking out our place and saw a Wisdom car park outside your place, (I'm assuming your SS) opened up the gates and walked in. How is that for service! They must be working around the clock for your PCI/handover 😊 Hey bugslife how are you guys going? We had our PCI last week and are hopefully (fingers crossed) handing over this week. Put fences in on the weekend and driveway was in late last week. Have you guys got any indication on timing yet? Separately, anyone know what the go is with NBN in our area? The whole thing confuses me. Our building is setting our house up, but is the area even NBN ready? If so, any recommendations on providers with good speeds? Hope everyone is travelling well, hope to hear some progress updates! Re: Building at Catherine Park 244Jul 09, 2018 8:16 am I just had the NBN installed recently, we had to get the electricity from the street connected and at the time the electrician ask about running the NBN wiring which I said yes to (sorry I don't know the "technical" names for this lol) Once that was all done, the ISP you choose will book an appointment with NBNco for a tech to come and install the NBN box in your garage, I went with Leaptel and this connection cost $300. Leaptel have a speed guarantee but I found the router they provided us hasn't been the best, so if you have an existing wifi router just use that, another good provider is Exetel. Re: Building at Catherine Park 245Jul 09, 2018 8:17 am We have fibre to the premises, which means it is fibre optic cable all the way to the box in your garage, where you then get a copper port to plug the cabling from your builder in, which goes to wherever you are putting your router Re: Building at Catherine Park 246Jul 09, 2018 8:21 am igzzz we already have the box in the garage - I thought your builder was meant to install it for you? They did mine the same time they did my neighbours house. kurdie congrats! We have PCI on 21st august (we shall see). Having more issues with more mistakes by builder which require Catherine Park to sign off because it's a mistake with the facade. Never building another house in my lifetime 😂 Re: Building at Catherine Park 247Jul 09, 2018 8:37 am bugslife @igzzz we already have the box in the garage - I thought your builder was meant to install it for you? Never building another house in my lifetime 😂 I will have to check the garage not sure if we have a box or not. Hopefully this will all be explained to us during our handover - in terms of what needs to be done in order to get Internet up and running. Thanks to all for your swift replies! Hopefully you guys make 21 August pci.. we are definitely in the same boat as you in relation to not building again in this lifetime. I’m not holding my breath on moving in this week given the list of things still left to do, but I bet the builder will just move it to the 90 day maintenance period and it’ll never get done. We haven’t had the best experience and will certainly be delivering very honest and transparent feedback in the coming weeks. Our street is definitely coming together! Never building another house in my lifetime 😂 Depends on your contract, if it's included or not. In our case it wasn't. Last time it was but our NBN box was on the outside, I much prefer it inside the garage haha Re: Building at Catherine Park 249Nov 01, 2018 8:43 pm Hi all, Hope everyone is doing well. Not sure if anyone is still active on here. Just wanted to check if anyone received a notice of completion from the developer? Basically saying we have to complete construction by March next yr which looks like won't be possible. Did any of you go over the build timeframe? Re: Building at Catherine Park 250Nov 02, 2018 7:12 am Jaydeeh82 we didn't as we had handover 1 year and 4 weeks after we settled on the land. I am aware of people in the estate which have been served with those notices but the estate is just enforcing a clause from the contract of sale I believe. It sucks though because we know builders move at a snail's pace and it's not always our fault. I was quite anxious that we went over because it was in their building guidelines that we had to be close to completion at 12 months post settlement. Just speak to them and tell them where you're at and give them the details of your builder so they can chase them up on your behalf. Communication is key at this point and they're normally pretty understanding. Good luck! I was just worried since it's a legal thing but when I spoke to Carrie from Catherine Park Estate - she said just to keep them updated on the progress then they will be happy. Just scared me when it says if we go over then they will issue a notice of sale. Hopefully no more issues. I just want to move in already haha. Re: Building at Catherine Park 252Nov 02, 2018 8:50 am Jaydeeh82 yeah the legal letters are definitely heart stopping. Guess it just helps the estate if they need to proceed further with anything 😓 but they're really good once you get in touch with them! Can definitely understand just wanting to be done already but your bricks are progressing really quickly! Every time I look out the back I see you're getting closer and closer to a roof!
