You builders are cracking along. Hope you had a good holiday too Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - Lock up 62Mar 21, 2015 12:49 pm Amazing progress in 3 weeks! Looking awesome. Loving your decking and from your photos it looks like all your trades have done a beautiful job. Gyprock looks nice and straight, water proofing and cabinets look great! Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - Lock up 64Mar 22, 2015 9:48 am Thanks for all the comments folks - as said previously, we're very happy with the way things are going. I'm not quite sure what the decking timber is TraceyWayne. We did originally plan on stainless steel wire but switched to glass. A bit risky perhaps being next to a golf course, but we've only found one golf ball on the block in the past year, so thought it was worth taking a chance! Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - Lock up 65Mar 22, 2015 6:28 pm Thanks, was wondering if it was spotted gum, that's what we're using and thought your deck looked great. I'd chance the glass with those odds Custom build Northern NSW viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72217 Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - latest progress 66Mar 30, 2015 7:23 pm Steady progress over the past week, with the external painting having been completed... same with the internals (and yes, we struggled choosing a colour, so ended up all white)... and the tiling has started... One at the front of the block which we'll backfill against, so we only worried about making the top pretty and just filled the bottom part with old rubble.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We're hoping there will be further significant progress by the end of the week, as the tiler has really been grafting, and we've also had the plumber & electrician on site. Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - latest progress 67Mar 30, 2015 7:41 pm looking great thebrolga and thank you so much for the photos of the gabions. My husband isn't that keen on them and we'll probably try and use the bricks we have first to create walls and things to prop up seating How do you keep the site so weed free? Ours is a mess of weeds The niche at the end of the corridor looks great! Is it for a piece of your artwork? Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - latest progress 68Mar 30, 2015 10:29 pm Great progress! Deck is looking good. What colour is the external render? But didn't you have to select a shade of white? Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - latest progress 71Mar 31, 2015 6:38 am Yes, but it was a matter of "........ that one should be right." Looks like a very high quality build, loving the deck as well. Keen to follow and see the finished product Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - latest progress 73Mar 31, 2015 1:19 pm Thanks all. In response to the questions asked: * I think the fact there are few weeds growing is a reflection of the soil quality - lots of clay. Unfortunately if weeds aren't able to grow, I fear we're going to have our work cut out planting a garden. * Not sure what's going in the hallway niche yet - we also have another near the front door. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but now we have to find something to fill them! * External render is Surfmist - a Colorbond colour * we saw the white interior in one of the builder's display homes and, as with clintdb just said 'we'd like that'. Surprise, surprise - we're told it's called 'Builder's White'! Loving your build too thanks Bees. Looks like your as happy with your builder as we are with ours. Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - latest progress 74Mar 31, 2015 1:22 pm Thanks for that, is it a painted on finish or colour in an acrylic render? If the latter is is rockote or a dulux product? It looks fairly grey in your picture or does it look more white in real life? We have chosen the same colour mixed into acrylic render (dulux) to interested to see what it looks like in real life once colour coat is applied hence all my questions Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - latest progress 75Mar 31, 2015 7:03 pm It's an acrylic render that was painted - not sure of the brand. I think the actual colour is a little lighter/whiter than it appears in the picture. I'll see if I can get another one of the outside at the weekend and post it with the next lot of pics. Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - latest progress 76Mar 31, 2015 10:19 pm Love the "builders white" colour. Not so inventive as some of the colour names that are out there but very descriptive Re: Brisbane build with Steve Parcell - tiles & electrics 77Apr 13, 2015 7:25 pm The last couple of weeks have been taken up mainly with internal stuff - the tiling is almost finished and the electrics are now all in. The builder has given us a completion schedule of all the work that needs completing and when it will be done - with a proposed handover date of 7 May. Here's a few pics of progress since the last time. Hall... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ laundry... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ bathroom...
