Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 17, 2014 11:41 pm I hope this is the right forum to post this. Our build will be a single story contemporary home, and we have so far specc'ed a rendered facade. However, a few months ago we saw a house that included some feature brick in the facade, so we're now considering this too. I think it was this one: http://australbricks.com.au/wa/bricks/d ... -illusion/ However my memory has faded and I forget what I loved about it at the time So I'm just wondering if anyone has used feature brick on their facade, and if you have any pictures? (Browsing through that site, I also like the look of: http://australbricks.com.au/wa/bricks/d ... sel-stone/ ) Re: Feature brick? 2Feb 18, 2014 10:20 am Hi Trixee, I get where you are headed with this. Dare I say, it's a little bit '70s? It might date. How about some recycled Fremantle bricks instead -they've stood the test of time. Still look amazing. I've no idea where you'd get them though. Sorry, a bit off track. I'm having a bit of an exposed brick fetish lately.... http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: Feature brick? 3Feb 18, 2014 10:46 am Hm, thanks for that. Funnily, the house I saw didn't look at all 70'sish, but I hear what you're saying. I wonder what makes things date. It's why I wanted to see photos. I don't really want to use red brick though, I want to stick to greyish tones. Perhaps I'm better off playing it safe and sticking with straight render. Re: Feature brick? 4Feb 18, 2014 11:00 am Have you thought about doing a carved in stone feature wall? Ours has just gone up and it looks great I think. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Feature brick? 5Feb 18, 2014 11:15 am @navs - Looks interesting, I hadn't considered that actually. How do they do it, do they carve the pattern out of render? Re: Feature brick? 6Feb 18, 2014 11:22 am Yep that is pretty much it. We also looked at a feature brick but decided the feature wall was worth the investment. I can't remember who the builders were though, sorry. Was it this sort of thing you had in mind?
