I think ours was in the contract as well as our post contract variation. (Post contract variation was mostly changes on their side). Not to worry. I'm trying not to think about it. I'll assume everything is as it's meant to be and that they need to make money from us *roll eyes*. I think I'm going nuts. I JUST WANT THEM TO FINISH THE HOUSE!!! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Almost there 1563May 02, 2015 2:25 pm Went today to visit and a tradie rocked up! Someone who was fixing an expansion joint - I think it was just silicon or something in one of those tubes. He couldn't do it before as he didn't have a ladder (as he had seen it was a 1 story build... and assumed that he would be able to get to it). So it was just one line of this stuff and he came today to do it. It was good we were on site as the code is still our code and he wasn't able to get in using the Sekisui code.
We also got a call yesterday and an email to have our gas connected. I had already started the ball rolling with Origin but since Sekisui wants us to go with AGL I'd rather just have it all ready and change providers later than have any excuse for delay. It is not their choice it's yours. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Almost there 1565May 02, 2015 5:57 pm They had as part of their process someone call us and organise for gas connection. And that company (New Energy Connections) is defaulting to AGL. They state that it's not locked in and we can change providers at any time. I just don't want to create any reason for there to be any delays. Hence I'm happy to get connected and change later. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Almost there 1566May 02, 2015 6:00 pm in case anyone is interested I put a post up today with a bit of a photo timeline of the front of the house: http://peakhurst.blogspot.com.au/2015/0 ... front.html Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Almost there 1567May 02, 2015 6:38 pm Great timeline pics, no wonder you want the build finished, with the demo starting in June last year, time is nearly up and you need to be in. Just need a date. I'm a little resigned about the dates at this stage and just waiting for the SS to give me guidance. I think I've been conditioned to be a bit more patient. Do they clean before pci or before handover? We can't move in properly till carpet and floors are put in so we will be making our own dust in any case Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Waiting on Practical Completion 1573May 04, 2015 5:39 am trixee The timeline page is great! I love seeing how the landscape/streetscape changes over time. Yeah I wanted to do series of changes over time of each area.. But I haven't managed my photos that well to do it that easily. The timelapse will fix it for the frontage but they are all on my husband's laptop! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Waiting on Practical Completion 1574May 05, 2015 3:21 pm How have you found the build with Sekisui? How long has the build taken so far/ will take?? Did you find the same issues with the admin process in regards to items coming back wrong and them not listening to what you want? Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Waiting on Practical Completion 1575May 05, 2015 3:35 pm Hi allyd86 - the build is going as well as it can be. It does look like quality work but some of that will come down to the Site supervisor as well and the resources he (or she!) puts onto your build. The build started in September and I expect it to finish up this month (May 2015) with a 5 week break over Xmas. So about 9 months. The admin process was very difficult (but not as difficult sounding as yours!) where they would come back with random stuff and you basically need to review it in detail, mark it up, send it back, remark it up and send it back and then phone and clarify matters. I wouldn't say they don't listen to what you want but they don't understand what you want! I was emailing our sales person spreadsheets which I would then track. I found that worked a bit better at times. Mind you they then convert it to a handwritten based form which they scan for a draftsperson to convert... so there is huge oppty for them to stuff it up... and interpret it wrongly. We got a back of page estimate from Rawson when we visited them and they do seem from the outside to be more 'with it'. But then you do pay for it. But you get a more finished product too. So really it's horses for courses! Good luck whichever way you go! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Waiting on Practical Completion 1577May 05, 2015 4:58 pm I do like some of the other builders too but in this case it was the floorplan that sold me. There are few designs that worked for our block in the way we wanted. I would build again with Sekisui if it worked out that way although if I did it again I'd hope to have pots more money and get a custom designed build So if realistically again... and I could choose a different design I'd be tempted by Rawson or possibly Adenbrook or Clarendon. It's a mix based on how we were treated for initial consultations (sales people) and the design and reputation for us. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Waiting on Practical Completion 1578May 08, 2015 7:00 am Got a text from my neighbour... Timbers are here. Assume for the stairs!! We are also going over to meet a landscaper for a quote Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Waiting on Practical Completion 1579May 08, 2015 7:57 am Thought you planned on doing the landscaping yourself? Well it will be easier since they would have to their disposal heavy machinery for digging etc Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Waiting on Practical Completion 1580May 08, 2015 8:36 am No the landscaping is ours to do. The tetraforming side is what we are getting a quote for as well as the driveway. Exciting... We should have the stairs by tonight. And there were two guys cleaning the inside if the house!
