I was finding it reassuring that someone else was doing the same thing too Ours is a 7kW inverter, but we are doing a few more panels to allow for the fact that the panels aren't always operating at peak performance. The good thing with the fronius is that it has two separate "channels" so that it can take the feed from the West and North sections separately - otherwise it would only take the lower of each one at any given time. I have green energy package not sure if we are going to get something similar. Better for us as the meter box is on a northern wall. Also easier for us when it's indoors Good idea not to expose the inverter to too much sun (heat). We will be putting ours on an eastern wall (next to the meter box), but it is mostly shaded by the house next door except for a brief period early in the morning in summer. It was by CSR - SolarEdge 5kw (basically 1kw per room as a guide) I am getting an Odyssey ventilation system though ... Do you have air conditioning? Also I'm trying to change our habits so we do a clothes wash or dishwasher on in the daytime. And since I work from home one day a week that makes it a bit better. I won't feel guilty having the air conditioning on when I'm the only one at home (and the dogs). I think our payback is about 6-7 years. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2370Jan 27, 2017 4:50 pm What's the ventilation system do? Circulate fresh air? I did look into this ages ago as I hate the idea of mould which we use to get in our South facing rooms. I did look into this ages ago as I hate the idea of mould which we use to get in our South facing rooms. The aim is to "exhaust" the warm/stale air from the house out and draw in fresh air.. they have 2 products .. one just draws air from roof only and the other does both Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2372Jan 27, 2017 8:09 pm Thanks so much for posting all the solar information. I'm going to investigate, one of us is always home during the day here, so sounds like something we could certainly use well! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2374Jan 28, 2017 9:34 am I'm not really sure where to start with it... Do only Fronius supply what you've got? Or is it something that a lot of companies sell? I'm googling it but my searching skills are letting me down today! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2375Jan 28, 2017 9:54 am Fronius are a reputable brand, but not the only one out there. If you are brand new to solar, a good place to start is to read through the various articles on this website: www.solarquotes.com.au Read the "Solar101" page, and once you start getting more familiar with the terminology and how it all fits together, read more of the articles. Once you have done a bit of reading and started to work out what sort of sizing you are after, how much energy you use and approx how many kWh per year you will produce etc etc, you can start playing with payback periods using this calculator: www.solarquotes.com.au/calc5 Seksui KDR in Sydney (2015-2016) Links --> | H1 thread | Final plans | Timing of works updated 9/3/16 | Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2378Jan 28, 2017 2:31 pm Get a few quotes most of the reputable ones sell the higher end panels and inverters. I'm not sure the real difference in performance but ended up getting the 'better' ones for the mental assurance. Today we ran our air conditioning for free and then some! We are getting over 4kW during peak and our air conditioning plus underlying use is about 2.3kW. We are paying about $6500 for the system. Ours is over sized for our use but that's because it's not much more than the 3 or 4 kW systems. After around 2.30pm our western facing array is out performing the northern facing panels. So the spilt seems worth it Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2380Jan 28, 2017 2:56 pm How many panels on west side and North side? we are getting 5 solar panels as per package and have more room on the roof to add a few more panels. Our roof face North- west so no need to split like you.
