So a depressingly long time. KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 765Feb 10, 2015 10:14 pm Oh boy... That's a lot longer than I thought. So much for their sweet talk 'most houses we do in 5 months!' So they tell me. Man by the time we move in to ours our unborn child will be one Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 766Feb 11, 2015 4:47 am I was told ours is a difficult site. And bearers and joists does take longer... And it could possibly be April... But still a long time Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 767Feb 11, 2015 5:52 am Go the pink batts! Did you really start in August? It always seems quick when you're following someone else's build. April-May..only a couple of months away. I found your thread a while ago when i searched for bearer and joist construction. I have been reading your thread since.. and only just finally created an account so i could post on here. I am loving how your house is turning out! Following your build has been a pleasure and i appreciate the amount of pictures you have uploaded. it helps me visualise the process that our build is going to follow. I hope the rest of the build goes smoothly for you Keep up the good work! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 770Feb 11, 2015 12:05 pm Awww thanks abztronic. I appreciate your words of encouragement. I'm interested in what your are planning to do too. Let us know when you are ready Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 771Feb 11, 2015 12:09 pm Sheilzy Go the pink batts! Did you really start in August? There was one stage I even thought Xmas 2014 was possible! Talk about being deluded! (no offense deluded!) I think my avatar name is quite appropriate since I was hoping a smooth build without dramas. (clearly not the case) Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 773Feb 12, 2015 5:41 am SS called late yesterday. Apparently the sound insulation delivered was wrong... and afterwards I checked our Work Order/contract... the delivered stuff was R1.7 and our contract has that we get R1.8. Yesterday: insulation was put in walls, some popped up into ceiling space (not installed). Gyprock delivered, some air cond ducting installed. Invoice for air cond upgrade paid. Our landscape guy sent us initial sketches for comments. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 774Feb 12, 2015 10:41 am Interested to see your landscape ideas. We also have a meeting with the landscaper who did our DA plan next week. I want to start organising quotes on post-handover jobs and hopefully lock them in. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 775Feb 12, 2015 1:32 pm I'd be interested in your landscaping too! How'd you all find a landscaper? Just yellow pages? I'd love to get some ideas but hadn't considered getting a professional to do it until now? Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 776Feb 12, 2015 4:47 pm I want a productive garden (actually there is a good thread here on H1 that has someone building an amazing one in Vic or Melbourne). Anyway friends of ours who are very much into this recommended a landscaper who is into Organic gardening. So we've gotten him in to do an evaluation and getting him to draw up sketch plans. We'll be implementing ourselves (oh yes I foresee lots of back pain! :S) but really wanted guidance on plant selection and whatever else he can impart. Happy to provide his details if anyone is interested. When the plans are a bit more concrete (he's doing a section at a time as we have front yard, courtyard and western deck) I'll pop it on the blog and this thread. Stay tuned. Need to organise my blog post etc so I can get the pics of the plans thus far here Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 779Feb 12, 2015 6:26 pm Yvonne you're a superwoman! How do you manage to find the time to blog? Love your updates so keep them coming. I'm so under the pump at work and life is getting a bit out of hand at the moment I really haven't thought about blogging. Not that there is much happening on the build front. Unfortunately this week is a write off as our SS only has 2 groups of bricklayers and apparently there is a queue! He told us last week brickwork was supposed to start mid this week. Now it doesn't seem like we will see any action till Monday. I'll believe it when I see it! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Eaves and Rough-ins 780Feb 12, 2015 7:10 pm We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37289 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19192 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13523 |
