Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 05, 2014 9:21 pm Hi All, I thought that I would get the ball rolling as we have heard that Sekisui House is coming to Victoria with two locations of display homes being opened in March at Saltwater Coast & Berwick Waters. We have just recently purchased a double storey display home with Sekisui House and have been watching the build very closely and we are very pleased that they have not treated us like most other builder. The customer service that Sekisui has provided us has been first class, we found that most builders simply would not give us the time of day. Sekisui House has provided us with weekly updates of our progression of build (even though we drive past every third/fourth night!) We understand that they are coming to Victoria in 2014 and some people may be hesitant about a "new builder", however these guys are not new, they have built more homes than any of the "big boys" world wide. They are currently in NSW, SA, QLD & ACT. We can't wait for the display home to be finished so we can see the finished product in March, if anyone is thinking of talking to Sekisui, we would highly recommend there team 100%! Re: Anyone Building With Sekisui House? 2Jan 05, 2014 11:26 pm I look forward to checking out the Display homes if they ever make Perth . Nice advert tho. Sekisui House ended up with the contracts to finish all the houses, and there was a lot of people who weren't happy with the time things were taking, and i think some quality issues too. There were some people that were happy too. So i guess take everything with a grain of salt. Re: Anyone Building With Sekisui House? 4Jan 08, 2014 9:15 am i went to their display homes at homeworld kellyville and the minute i walked in, i was greeted with a rude staff asking what my budget is then gave me a price list and asked me to immediately proceed and check their display homes. that's just my personal experience though. i agree, nice advert Re: Anyone Building With Sekisui House? 6Jan 26, 2014 7:23 am We approached Sekisui last year with a difficult site and requirements that made it impossible to go with a standard project home design. 'We can do a custom build for you was the response', which was great to hear. Now, after going through the concept design and discussion stage, we are about to go to contract. So far I've been very happy. Re: Anyone Building With Sekisui House? 7Jan 26, 2014 9:48 am They're a Japanese company that moved into Australia in 2010 by taking over AV Jennings Contract homes. There were some big issues early on as they cleared house of all the dead weight staff and endeavored to bring in better systems. A lot of negativity on the internet from this time - Sekisui acknowledges this on their website. We have some friends who bought with them. There were some small administrative hold ups early in the piece but since the build started everything has been going well. They're happy with it and are impressed with the build quality. I'll have to take a look sometime. Re: Anyone Building With Sekisui House? 8Feb 02, 2014 7:16 pm We're getting a tender done by Sekisui - seems like it's been a long time since we started the process and we still don't have our first cut at the tender (although have our second set of drawings but still have a few changes to go!) We've gone from a on slab build to bearers and joist construction which I'm quite happy with... until we get the pricing at least! We're also getting an estimate from a custom home builder (different product in that we'll be doing a huge reno vs a KDR) just to have a second option. So hopefully we'll be building with Sekisui, but let's see if they can get their act together as definitely their processes could do with some improvements! Re: Anyone Building With Sekisui House? 9Feb 12, 2014 8:49 am I am one of the homeowners that was building with ProCorp who went into Liquidation and had Sekisui House inflicted on them. If you want to find out about the experiences of how Sekisui House performed them go to this blog viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60946 starting reading from about page 30 onward to really see the experiences we had with Sekisui House. My personal experience with Sekisui has not been a good one - we weren't given much choice in the matter even though I had another builder lined up that I had built with previously and who was local to my project. We signed our Contract with Sekisui House to complete our Duplex in May 2013 - It ws approximately 2/3 complete just before lock up - It was a 16 week contract - and any competent builder would have completed the job in that time frame. So the build should have been finished in September 2013. Its now February 2014 and we are still waiting for Handover and we are not the only one whose home/project was not completed on time and I;m not sure if we are the last one to have their job completed. So here we are losing $100 per day in rent PLUS having to pay Interest costs to the bank while the contract with Sekisui House only provides for $1 per day in damages. (And we asked for more but had no option but to sign last year). I would NOT recommend using Sekisui House for building anything - In MY opinion they were unorganised, understaffed and ill equipped to handle to 90 ProCorp Jobs they took on. Is was just a quick way for them to put contracts on there books and they received guaranteed payment from HOW/SiCorp at premium prices. But then that's business I guess. For a builder like Sekisui House that claims it has 50 years experience and is one of the biggest in the world they certainly left me very disappointed. Re: Anyone Building With Sekisui House? 10Jul 31, 2014 2:44 pm My Fiancé and I decided that Sekisui House were the builders for us. From the first day when we were greeted by the consultant we were very impressed with the friendliness, customer service and satisfaction from such a large international company. We didn't know what to expect when we walked into their doors but wish we had earlier. The level of inclusions are definitely a cut above the other builders out there. Smeg 900mm SS appliances, Square set cornice to entrance and living areas, 2340mm high doors, 20mm Stone Benchtops (kitchen, Ensuite and bathroom), Free standing bath, Soft closes to the kitchen, Sarking in the roof and many more. Having this high level of inclusions helped us secure our builder of choice...Sekisui House. We knew that the price we were given on the day was a fair price and wasn't going to change becase the home we were after came loaded with all of the extras that other builders were going to charge us thousands for.... The whole building experience has been a smooth journey and if I was to build again I would be choosing Sekisui House. Keep up the good work That's how I read it as well. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you.
