You can do it yourself if it's not an expensive camera or a camera store will do it. If it's your phone you'll have to live with it. Love the colors and the splash. Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Inside pics! 84Aug 16, 2014 10:06 am It's looking great, you must be thrilled! Loving that sink! Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Inside pics! 86Aug 16, 2014 5:15 pm Yeah, it's just the camera in my phone- it's a known issue with the Samsungs, some think it's to do with the white balance but the fix that works for some doesn't work for others. If I was really picky I'd get out the actual camera but this'll do for now Thanks everyone! We can't wait to get in there and not have to take turns in the kitchen - I can make a coffee at the same time as someone else is making their lunch! I think I'm just going to spend time staring at all the lovely shiny things ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Eeek - We're embarking on a knockdown rebuild! The finish line feels so close I can smell it (I hope that's what I can smell ) but still so far away. But this is why we never, ever finished the kitchen renovation in the old house. Everything worked and so we got on with life with good intentions to do the finishing touches (including venting the rangehood to somewhere other than just out the top of the overhead cupboard back into the kitchen and doing the quad scotia on the laminate flooring) but never got around to it. Our vinyl planks are going in this week - yesterday was the floor prep. I got a call just before 9 from the installer to say the house was locked and he couldn't get in (he's working directly for us, not the builder so they haven't given him a key which I can understand). DH is off work today so he called the builder's 2IC/SS who hadn't realised he needed to open up and said he'd come out. DH went up to have a look and by the time he got there (about 20 mins after the initial call), the painter was there to do some external painting and one of the doors was open - phew. The installer can only work between about 9 and 3 each day this week for personal reasons (his wife is overseas so he needs to do the school run for his kids) so the floor is going to take the rest of the week but it's now been arranged for the house to be opened up each morning for him. I had a quick chat to him yesterday to confirm which direction to lay the planks in and he mentioned he has it in his house so I'm taking that to be a very good sign that a) we've made the right choice of flooring and b) he's going to do a good job. We know the ensuite shower rain head works at least. DH got in there the other day to check that the handheld one on the rail was high enough for him to stand under and accidentally knocked the switch that diverts the water to the top one. There was a bit of (freezing cold at 7:30-ish am) water in the pipe which came out onto his bald head While I was up there yesterday I managed to get some photos of bits and pieces. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Still no word on a PCI or approx handover date but we'll touch base with the builder again later in the week to see if we can narrow it down. 5½ weeks ago we were on track for six to eight weeks. The builder's tradies can continue with external stuff (the painter's there today, I guess to do the back doors and the exterior lighting still needs to be done) while the floor goes in. The electrical fitout needs to be finished off, carpet in the lounge, study and bedrooms, mirror doors on the shaving cabinets and I think that's about it. DH has put in for long service leave for a couple of weeks at the end of term next month (he's a teacher) but may look at moving it to the start of next term instead or a bit either side of the holidays. Next update should be photos of our floor! ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Eeek - We're embarking on a knockdown rebuild! It's so slow at the end, it's excruciating. I mucked up my annual leave - I thought we'd be moving end of Oct when it's going to be sooner. But hubby is on leave next month so looks like he'll have to do all the moving stuff and hopefully I can potter about and concentrate on decorating when I'm off. Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Inside pics! 89Aug 28, 2014 8:37 pm It's looking great! So exciting to see all this progress, I'm sure PCI will be here before you know it. Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Inside pics! 90Aug 29, 2014 3:41 pm SR it looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can imagine how it must feel so slow. The floor will be super exciting! Did you arrange in advance to get the floors done before handover? Annual Leave after the move sounds like it was a devious plan Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Inside pics! 91Aug 30, 2014 3:02 pm It looks brilliant, I love it!!! Can't wait to see the floor! And great idea with the leave. Will be nice to take some time to spend on the house and setting it up just how you want it. Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Vinyl planks 92Aug 30, 2014 8:42 pm Aww, thanks joanne, trixee, yvonne and cat_dunc! ♥ Excruciating is definitely what it is! I'm just in a holding pattern - I can't even really pack as we only really unpacked necessities anyway when we moved into our rental. We're lucky in a way that DH automatically has the school holidays although being able to move before then would be handy as the boys will be out of our hair for 6½ hours each day at school! My work is flexible as well (and I can't work with no interweb anyway) so I'm just waiting to lock in the dates when I'll be not working. I don't get paid leave so I won't be able to take as much time off as I'd like but I can work more in the evenings or weekends and unpack boxes and organise during the day when I'm home alone. I'm also thinking a week off down the track a bit, say in November, might be handy to tidy up loose ends before the insanity of December starts (my workload goes ballistic to the point I could work 24/7 on top of Christmas parties, school concerts, etc). Got a phonecall at 11am Friday to say the flooring was all done! I haven't had a chance to get up there to have a look and take photos - our youngest turns 8 tomorrow so today we had my parents and sister over for birthday cake - but I did get some on Thursday when it was covered in dusty footprints. Entry I got some protective film at Bunnings to stick down over the main walkways and some rubber door mats to help prevent damage until we move in. We had originally planned to have the vinyl laid after handover but when they measured up they asked if they could do it before the carpet (which the builder is doing) as the put down the edging and then the carpet gets laid up to it. We asked our builder if it was possible and fully expected to be knocked back but the builder said it was fine. The main holdup at the moment is that there's a delay with getting the gas meter and piping for connection. As of Thursday, the builder's hoping to have a walkthrough/PCI in the next fortnight with his 2IC and handover not long after he returns from holiday in two weeks. ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Vinyl planks 98Sep 10, 2014 9:01 am Thanks all - we're SOOOO happy with them it's just not funny LOL Claypot, they're Karndean Van Gogh in Lancewood. Initially it was a toss up between this and Melbourne Larch which is a bit lighter and has darker grain lines and knots but we went with this because of the bigger light/dark variation in the boards. A very quick update while I get some coffee and toast into me. I've stayed away from HomeOne for a while as I was feeling very down - the sparky arrived last Monday to finish off the electrical fitout and 9 of the lights we had supplied had been stolen along with some of his stuff that was there. Thankfully there was no damage apart from some to the door they broke in through but it still made me feel like rubbish. We suspect it was some sort of inside job - one of the concreters who came to give us a driveway quote brought a mate and while we were out the front, he took it upon himself to wander through the house and give his opinion on the plumbing work I wasn't very happy with it at the time as he didn't even ask if he could have a look and now I wonder. So last week was spent running and phoning around trying to track down replacement lights including two trips up the highway to Melbourne. We had a small moment of panic when we learned the vanity lights (which took us a year to find ones that we liked AND were suitable) were discontinued but thankfully Light Up in Fawkner had one in a box and one on display they were happy to sell I went back up to the house for the first time in about 10 days last night and now I'm feeling happy about it again The exterior painting looks like it's finished and most of the lights are in (the sparky must have been focussed on working fast to get them in as he left the empty boxes everywhere LOL - he'll be back today and based on his previous work will leave it neat and clean). I feel like I did at the end of my pregnancies when you're huge and just want the baby out so you can meet them and move forward again - I've pretty much done all I can in preparation, now I'm just in a holding pattern waiting for something that's completely out of my control. ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. I'm guessing that concreter is now off your list to use? What vanity lights did you get? Is that the "Spada by Telbix" strip light? Where are your Sibel lights going? Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Vinyl planks 100Sep 10, 2014 9:37 am Yes, the Spada ones. Once they're in I'll get some photos as all the ones online aren't very clear. The Sibel lights are in the family and dining rooms. This is a photo of one of them Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen pendants Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The sparky rang me yesterday morning to say he thought it would be a good idea to put the powerpoints under the island overhang instead of on the ends as it would hide them a little. Good idea in theory but he didn't realise that they were cupboard doors (to be fair, they weren't cupboards on the plan, we added them when we met with the cabinetmaker a couple of months ago). Plus I think they're more practical on the end and once there's furniture and everything in there, I don't think we'll notice much. ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure.
