Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 28, 2012 4:20 pm Hi all, Wow am i so glad i found this forum! I've been reading through the topics for new home builders and already have a list going on of things to ask and additions to make! I wanted to ask if anyone has build with Ventura? I havent come across anyone who has built with them, although i know they are a fairly big company. Also, what sort of costs will i be up for that wont be included in the site works/ house price? I get an almost turn key package - the only thing they arent doing is the land scaping. Any hidden fee's/ costs/ things to keep an eye out for would be super helpful! thanks =D I cant wait to move! I have a friend who has just recently finished building with Ventura - I will send him a message with your questions hopefully he can help out. I have been over to his place it is really nice - during his build process they allowed me to do the electrical work on his place which was good as we managed to fit his house out with as many conduits/powerpoints/data cabling/light fittings/downlights as he wanted. Watch this space as I will edit when I have received a response. Yeah my dad is a sparky but unfortunately he's on the other side of the country atm.. however he said it wont be too hard for him to pop in more power points etc if i need it, and i'll just get the ultra basic lights put in, and he'll come along after and put in LED down lights/ ceiling fans if i want it etc. He is going to pave my courtyard and build my pergola and outdoor pizza oven for me, and do any sparky related stuff at the same time - probably before i move in. Looking forward to any info regarding Ventura, I feel like i've got absolutely no clue what so ever going into this house building caper.. I cant wait to move! I have signed the prelim paperwork to get it all through council, that was 3 or 4 weeks ago.. so prob another 3 weeks to go I'd say - the Armadale council are renowned for taking their sweet arse time... not that i mind, i'm still getting things sorted with the bank anyway. Re: Brand newb building with Ventura ID 6Feb 29, 2012 12:57 pm Alinta go to imageshack.us or photobucket.com and you can upload it from there and just paste the link here. I think if you use the code it will show the pic on the forum...i think...not too well hearsed with the forum image code stuff but just uploading it on imageshack and putting the link here should do. Remember to place as many powerpoints on internal walls with no cavity as possible as im sure your dad can easily wire the cavity wall powerpoints. if you've signed your prelim paperwork remember there is no more structural changes you can make. Also just be prepared to pay extra for your siteworks in case. Is it possible for you to flip that laundry door to open the other way? (towards courtyard) I can see some issues arising when you have multiple trips to make from the car to the kitchen and you would be constantly opening/closing the doors to get inside. I've already asked to put a curtain door where the door to the walk in robe is - i saw it in a display home on the weekend and it looked fantastic.. a nice white cotton one, it will match perfectly with the white cotton curtain/drape things i'll have on a ceiling suspended canopy over my bed. and yea, i noticed what a big impact the double shower made to the ensuites in the display houses i saw. It only has 1 shower head but i'm going to get a quote on adding a second one.. I dont want to go too overboard with the upgrades, this house is purely a "foot in the door" house, i'll only have a $230k mortgage and should be able to get around the $310-320k mark - after that i'll start thinking about a dream home. I cant wait to move! I just want to get away from my horror neighbours! Building with Ventura in Seville Grove. Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 5741 I am in a difficult situation. Long story short I have been handed over my brand new home in Sydney with everything in the house being great except the windows that were… 0 953 |
