Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Would you Build again? 2Oct 08, 2011 11:06 pm I would build again... our builder (Coral) was fantastic and even now, nearly a year after we moved in, I still can't fault them. However... I don't ever want to have to buy a block of land again (especially an unregistered block), I don't want to sell a house again, and I don't ever want to move again, so it kind of makes building a house a bit redundant . Built the Coral Homes Hamilton 252 - moved in 20/10/2010 and loving it!! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=27215 Re: Would you Build again? 3Oct 09, 2011 7:34 am ~Nic~ I would build again... our builder (Coral) was fantastic and even now, nearly a year after we moved in, I still can't fault them. Re: Would you Build again? 4Oct 09, 2011 7:44 am I would NEVER build/buy/sell again,in saying that once the slab has been put down it has been going just fine, but NEVER will i EVER do it again!!!!!! I have no idea what it would b like too buy a house already up,but i have no interest in that either... We will get into the place we are building ATM and hope we can get ourself back too where we were... It hasn't been something i have enjoyed.... Re: Would you Build again? 5Oct 09, 2011 7:51 am I did vote though according to your criteria I shouldn't have as this was our 2nd build and 3rd home. I would build again if I had to. We have no intention of building again because we have no intention of moving but if we did have to I would want to build again. I liked being able to add specific changes that would have been impossible in an already build brick house without major effort. ( wall positions , wider passageways etc). Most other things you can modify by gutting and remodeling in an existing house. Of course I would love to have more money to spend on having nicer options in a house and having the qarden finished. After 27 months we have a long way to go. The actual build process I could happily live without. Re: Would you Build again? 7Oct 09, 2011 9:24 am We gutted the bathroom and refitted it and refurbished a laundry in our first house. We would have extended if we'd stayed. When I says "we" I mean we paid a carpenter to do the bathroom. If we had the skills and tradie contacts then maybe I'd love to do up places. BUT We don't. Building is a different thing altogether. Apart from the stress side of things which you would get either way. Not saying I haven't seen some beautiful homes for sale that I'd love to live in BUT I do like being able to make a home suit my lifestyle rather than the other way around. If I found something built with the right bones I'd certainly thing about it. All the gardens would be at least partly done for a start. Re: Would you Build again? 8May 27, 2012 7:36 pm Just realised this poll is for first home buyers. {We both said we'd leave our last house in a box... But the only predictable thing about life is change!!! We couldn't have predicted we'd have the chance to live where we have always wanted to, and then it happened. So here we are, waiting for titles to issue and gearing up for one more move. It never gets any easier but it will be worth it in the long run... } Re: Would you Build again? 9May 27, 2012 9:55 pm Building ? If it was easy , everyone would be doin' it........ Me too Second house, second time building. Said I wouldn't do it again the first time.... Look what I'm doing now. Have said to my wife that this is the last time - totally kidding myself. Like the poster above wrote - If building was easy everyone would be doing it. Re: Would you Build again? 11May 28, 2012 11:05 am Definately, the builder has been great. I might not build with my other half again tho - Ill just present him with my dream home with my choices etc at the end of it Re: Would you Build again? 12May 29, 2012 2:40 pm I'm a few weeks away from signing our final contract... although the experience has haunted me a little I'll definitely build again. I believe the overall satisfaction is much greater by putting the pieces together to get your dream house. Really excited and fingers crossed going forward. Bought in Nov 21 at the height of the market (classic). Good area, atrocious floor plan. BUT has land out to the left-hand side that we can extend out on (see second… 0 8784 Thanks mate.
