Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 19, 2012 5:11 pm Hi Just wondering if i am right to be feeling frustrated. Paid our initial deposit in April and requested that we have our contract before the 30th June, personal reasons. Anyway to date still no sign of them and have been told today that at the moment drafting are not looking at 2nd or 3rd home owners, only first home owner at getting their plans and contracts done before the 30th June because of first home buyers grant ending this month. Isnt my money as good as anyones??? Have told them they need to be working hard at keeping us and compensating us or we will take our money elsewhere. I am being unreasonable??? WOW, 10 minutes ago, I have just pretty much been told the same thing........although i am past contracts but waiting for reworked drawings to satisfy developer guidelines.... still no drawings, and their excuse was exactly that.... you are not building with henley are you??? Re: Frustration - put on the back burner for prelims & contr 4Jun 19, 2012 6:21 pm The things builders get away with would not be tolerated in other industries. They use the fact you have invested heavily financially and mentally to the project to do things at their own pace. Re: Frustration - put on the back burner for prelims & contr 5Jun 19, 2012 6:31 pm Wow so it is not only us. We are trying to build with JG King. Have only paid our initial deposit so would walk away if we dont get anywhere. I dont mind waiting but to be told it would be done then find out they are not even looking at them due to people who paid there deposit last weeks contracts being more important and getting them done before they even look at ours again. So being told we would start by the end of July is at this stage going to be more like the start of October if we are lucky. Re: Frustration - put on the back burner for prelims & contr 7Jun 21, 2012 10:01 am Not good for you, even worse for those first home buyers frantically trying to get in before the state FHOG contributions are cut (I presume you're in one of the states that's slashing their FHOG contribution or cutting it off altogether) - stuff like this was bound to happen when a government announces the scrapping of a grant two months before the deadline for obtaining it. I hear rumblings from both sides of the coin amongst friends of mine - it just sucks to be trying to get a build started at the moment - if you're not happy with the service then move on to a builder who does have time for you as mentioned above... Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Re: Frustration - put on the back burner for prelims & contr 8Jun 21, 2012 3:58 pm I would suggest going to a more boutique builder than a volume builder. You may end up paying a bit more $$ but for that you won't be simply treated as a number and will get the attention and care you deserve. I also think at the end of the day when you factor in all the things that a volume builder adds into the costings from the initial base price, you actually don't end up paying much more. Of course, this is a generalisation and an opinion.
