Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 07, 2010 9:45 pm Hi everyone,
Well after a couple of false starts I've finally decided to take the plunge and build my 1st home. I've really liked the design of Carlisle Homes for quite some time however they hadn't built in the north until recently. As soon as I walked into the Montrose I instantly knew it just felt like home and that it would take full advantage of the big backyard of the block I purchased in Mernda Villages (I was leaning towards building the Atlantique before seeing how the Alfresco leads onto the backyard in the Montrose). The land settles in early August, so I'm busy planning what upgrades I want and the colours and door handles and skirting board profile and .... its quite overwhelming actually! I've had my colour browse and have a few idea's which I'm sure I will be running past everyone reading this over the coming days/weeks, might even start a blog eventually! So the adventure begins! Re: 1st Home Builder - Carlisle Homes Montrose 36 2Jun 07, 2010 9:54 pm Attached is a copy of the floor plan.
The only structural changes made are as follows * Corner stacker doors leading to Alfresco * Another sliding door from the Rumpus to the Alfresco * Extended garage to side boundary (extra 2m) * Drive through access in the garage * Soho Facade (will see if I can locate a picture of it) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: 1st Home Builder - Carlisle Homes Montrose 36 3Jun 07, 2010 11:27 pm Hi Stillwaters, Congrats on your own thread! I love the Montrose and it was a close second to the Atlantique for us! I like your upgrades so far - can't wait to see your colour options! I look forward to following your build - we'll be starting around the same time as you - we have an August start also. Regards Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: 1st Home Builder - Carlisle Homes Montrose 36 4Jun 08, 2010 8:43 am Nice to see another Carlisle home in the North The Montrose is a fantastic layout (although I really haven't come across a Carlisle home that I don't like) - the plans always seem very thought out. Re: 1st Home Builder - Carlisle Homes Montrose 36 5Jun 08, 2010 7:49 pm Thanks Slevin & Jayneylou, Yes, they are fantastic designs, after looking at what felt like 100's of display houses, The Atlantique & Montrose were my top 2 choices which made the decision a bit easier! This is the facade I'm considering, Its interesting without being really out there like some of the facade choices. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was thinking of having the garage door (timbergrain colourbond), timber planking and front door all the same wood colour. The only two choices of timber look doors on offer are the cedar or caoba look so not sure which to select if I'm to match all the timber? thoughts? Also do you think adding timber windows to the front will be too much wood? Cheers Re: 1st Home Builder - Carlisle Homes Montrose 36 6Jun 08, 2010 9:29 pm Congrats on the build!! Love the facade choice too... look forward to following your thread! Good luck! The corner alfresco doors will be fantastic. Will open up the living area totally. The facade is modern without going over the top. Personally I would go with caoba for the timber, but it really depends on what kind of bricks/render you are going with! I'm just wondering if you don't mind telling me, how much was it to put the ceiling speakers in? We weren't able to do that with our builders and I have been investigating it but I think I'm going to go with the sonos multi room system. We weren't able to do that with our builders and I have been investigating it but I think I'm going to go with the sonos multi room system. Looking forward to reading your thread. Speaker are 80 watt Jamo's. The indoor in-ceiling speakers were $535 per pair, Outdoor in-ceiling speakers were $909 per pair This price included wiring back to nominated locations, I'm sure you might be able to get it done cheaper elsewhere but i just didn't want the hassle.. I'm going to be using a Sonos music network as well! Re: Carlisle Homes Montrose 36 - LAND FINALLY SETTLED! 19Nov 12, 2010 11:38 am WOW!!! Thanks for letting me know. Yeah I have done a bit of reasearch about the Sonos, I love that I can control it from my iphone as well. I ask what can an Iphone not do??? Loves it! I figure that the Sonos system would be a lot cheaper and I thought I would install corner shelfs at roof level in the rooms I want speakers in and at least that way i can change it around if I wish later on down the track. If I had the money though I would have ceiling speakers for sure. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40976 Aug 26/10 -Land settle Oct 1-Signed UE Nov 4 -Site Cut 22 -Slab 26 -Frame Dec 17 -Lock Up Feb 1/11 -Fixing Mar 31+Apr 14 -PCI cancelled Re: Carlisle Homes Montrose 36 - LAND FINALLY SETTLED! 20Nov 12, 2010 11:45 am kpatch WOW!!! It quickly adds up if you want it for a few rooms!
