Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 18, 2010 1:33 pm Hey there, We are building with Ventura homes (a version of the 'Fortitude). We are about to settle on our block & hopefully finalising plans within the next 2 weeks. Just trying to figure out if it is worth deleting the driveway paving and having an exposed aggregate driveway installed after handover. Anyone have any idea of cost for the driveway &/or whether it is worth it!! Thanks! Looking forward to 'blogging' our progress. Ally Re: Building with Ventura Homes - exposed aggregate driveway 2May 18, 2010 1:46 pm A mate of mine just had 2 houses completed with exposed ag driveways, path to front door , path round side of house and small alfresco. Dunno the exact SQM but it cost him $17 K so halve it for one $ 8500. If you organise the exposed agg. yourself, and have it done properly (Mesh , sealed , cut joints ) expect to pay $65 - $85 per square metre. Our builder is doing ours, so we have to also pay their margin on top, but thats our choice, as we want it all done prior to moving in, PS: we have 100 square metres of it ...ouch, plus 100 square metres of normal concrete for the driveway (its a rear block with a 60 metre long drive) Cheer Re: Building with Ventura Homes - exposed aggregate driveway 4May 18, 2010 2:37 pm Just had a look at our prelim contract and if we were going to delete the driveway Ventura were going to give us $1056 credit. Looks like it is a good option for us. APparently, if you do a '100mm pour', it satisfies council requirements, meaning we get $2000 crossover fee we paid to Ventura back, as well as credit for the pavers. Looks pretty cost effective, plus a much nicer finish! Re: Building with Ventura Homes - the fortitude with changes 7May 18, 2010 6:29 pm OK - not quite....thought it would just be a link. Oh well - you get the idea. Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up. I am not sure how to go about getting it repaired… 0 10415 After some ideas on making our patio kid friendly . Currently we have exposed aggregate. The patio faces west and is always in sun even though it has a shade directly… 0 3642 2 833 |
