I hope you enjoyed your birthday as much as I did. It was delightful. Little Alyssa is a real princess. Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Longridge Madison - ZOMG LOVE!! 1083Oct 17, 2010 3:25 pm somewoman 16paws Hello somewoman, I have just read all 54 pages (night shift) and WOW what do you guys do for kicks? It has all been said before, epic, journey, really are some woman - that was in the beginning. I think you and your family have the ability to reach amazing heights and everyone here seems to notice so congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Cheers to you for your coming birthday. May it all be worth it the memories to come far outweigh the shadowSS of the past. Your daughter is gorgeous and the cats too. Ok I have a few ideas and questions after all the reading.... the boiled water you could put in a thermos as it will keep a good temp for a while to avoid reboiling for a cuppa. You really should in the meantime before your next degree get your own blog or whatever its called where you get paid advertising on your blog and you could get paid for your thoughts.... A farewell (being nice) for your SS as Halloween is coming up... Oh you could apply for a grant for your uni degree in relation to your designs. Does lemon oil work to keep spiders at bay and what do you do with it? If you enjoy your cakes and have a sweet tooth try Europattisserie (spelling???) Not sure is you have one there but the mint cake is oooohhh! Thankyou for all your time and info it has been amazing. All the best. (Sorry I do go on and on and..) Why, hello! And welcome =) Lemon oil does work for keeping spiders at bay!! They hate it! You can either spray it or use a cloth and wipe it onto all surfaces where they could possibly be getting in - generally windows and doors (and associated frames). I also add lemon oil to mop water, although have bought a steam mop for this house so no lemon oil getting on to the floors yet... Think I'll need to spray the areas that I'm about to mop or add some lemon oil to the cloth cover of the steam mop. The uni degree is sorta kinda maybe on hold for now... The house has come in MONTHS later than expected, and I have far too much work to do here to be a be able to cope with this, work (the day job), Alyssa and study... So I'll look at applying for the mid-year intake in 2011. Mint cake!!! YUM!! I generally make all my cakes, but that sounds superb. If I can't find a europatisserie I may have to attempt to locate a recipe instead We have a blog at http://house.yeoh.info - I think I have enough readers to have some impact on sales for my builder, but perhaps not enough to claim any form of income from paid ads and the likes I'm pretty sure I'd need the aforementioned degree to be able to claim any form of credibility in the field of sustainable architecture, or at least some for of work experience... For now, I'm just a computer programmer with a hobby and a flash new house. Maybe in 12 months or so when I have some operating data on thermal performance of the house over multiple seasons Thanks for reading! Also, flattered =) the idea of the fish tank is AWESOME!!! Troy would be TOTALLY jealous! hahahaha! Did you ever take your problems to the Construction manager? Its really good that he actually came to the house and checked things out Re: Longridge Madison - progress 1084Oct 17, 2010 3:26 pm somewoman ZOMG the render painting dude just rocked up to remove the tape and plastic until better weather =))) Our house won't be COMPLETELY FUGLY for the party =) WOW thats AWESOME!!! It sounds like things are starting to shape up. It's a wonderful home SW. Hope you're all well. Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Longridge Madison - bits and bobs and pics! 1093Oct 30, 2010 10:43 pm Thanks all =) We can control a lot of the house from the internet due to the Cbus smart wiring that we have throughout. All part of the bigger plan for greenidying the house further. Will post more on that to the blog sometime soon =) Dee, =p RR - the bench makes a MASSIVE difference to the feeling of the space. Really wish id had the time to make it before the party. It is by no means perfect, but it serves it's purpose perfectly and everybody who comes around comments on how beautiful it is. Most people when they find out that it was home made turn around and tell me how clever Pipe is and how nice it must be to have such a great handyman to give these projects to!! =)))) Many a jaw has dripped when they find out that it's all my doing Re: Longridge Madison - bits and bobs and pics! 1094Oct 31, 2010 6:02 pm and then the orders start coming out of their mouths,...'can you make me one, do you make coffee tables, would you make me a custom bed' and so on and so forth...... and you smile and go, NO Re: Longridge Madison - bits and bobs and pics! 1095Oct 31, 2010 7:53 pm I built the picket fence at our second build...and loved the look on people's faces when they found out! My shills aren't up to furniture making though- I'm in awe! Things have been insanely busy here, complete with gaining of new job (sort of... same company, same job, new project that is SO MUCH MORE EXCITING AND CHALLENGING). Includes a conference trip in january that I've been rallying to attend for ages, so very excited about that. As a result, however, it means 5 or so days away from Alyssa during the conference. So I've been spending a little time away to try to ramp her up for it, and spent all of last weekend in Sydney visiting friends and getting NOTHING done around the house. So very little to report housewise... My main motivation for showing up here today is to beg (i'm down on my knees here) for anyone interested in donating to me and/or my team for movember. It's an awesome cause, and no I am NOT growing a moustache!!! My "mospace" and donation page is here: http://au.movember.com/mospace/1227780/ All help greatly appreciated. =) Re: Longridge Madison - solar passivity on the rise!! 1099Nov 17, 2010 11:57 am Our retractable sun shades are being installed as I type... I'm sitting in my office looking out upon the two lovely work men from shadeform as they begin to make the house a whole lot more solar passive!! From today, we will have 4m eaves in summer, no eaves in winter all the way along the northern windows. Awesome =) Photos later Re: Longridge Madison - solar passivity on the rise!! 1100Nov 17, 2010 12:06 pm Great news SW! We are contemplating a timber frame across the back of the house ( NNE) which we can grow a deciduos vine over....I'm thinking maybe a fruiting grapevine because it should like the heat thrown off from the bricks each year as it starts to bud....
