Now it all begins, hope it goes as smoothly as ours went. We got our keys 2 weeks ago now and we are tiling and laying carpet at the moment. We move in next Tuesday. Hopefully there is no more rain until the slad and frame are up/ Re: Coral Hamilton 252 - WOOHOO!! Finally started! 75Jun 21, 2010 11:33 am Well, it had to happen eventually!! One year and 15 days since we found the block and we have finally started!!! (Unregistered land and delays from the estate developer caused the delays though, not the builder - I can't rate Coral highly enough right now). The block is getting cleared today, and apparently should be finished by today or maybe tomorrow, and the retaining wall will be built later this week (as long as the rain holds off...).. it's not a huge retaining wall, so hopefully that will be finished by the end of the week. Hope so anyway as the retaining wall guy is on holidays for three weeks at the end of this week. Our site supervisor told DH this morning that weather permitting, the slab, frame and roof should be finished in around 4 weeks so I am praying for sunshine! Nic. Finally started! 76Jun 27, 2010 9:16 pm Quick update... ended up taking a bit longer than planned to cut the block - bad weather didn't help, but then they hit rock while excavating, so it took a couple of days longer. Retaining wall gets started tomorrow and I am getting a bit nervous about the rock... hoping the wall doesn't end up costing more because of the rock (but thinking that it probably will ). DH has a meeting at the block tomorrow with the retaining wall guy, fingers crossed it all works out... Finally started! 77Jul 01, 2010 1:13 pm Any progress Nic??? Ours too started and in the same day stopped. Frustrating but not stressing (yet). Built our Granton in 2010 Handover December 3rd- wooohooo! Now the hard work has began.... Retaining walls and landscaping Re: Coral Hamilton 252 - WOOHOO!! Finally started! 78Jul 01, 2010 3:11 pm We are slowly getting there... we had to get a different kind of excavator in to dig the footings for the retaining wall because of all of the rock they hit. So now the engineer designs for the retaining wall had to be revised as the footings didn't have to be dug as deep, so all up, we lost around a week and will cost around $1k extra. Retaining wall guy will be back at the block on Monday, has another job to do on Tuesday that had already been booked in, so he will be back to finish the wall on Wednesday. Once that's been done, Coral will be back to get started. I'm not stressing too much yet either... As long as we are in by Christmas, I will be happy. I will even settle for sleeping bags on the floor - I don't care as long as we are in by then!! Finally started! 79Jul 12, 2010 7:44 am Hi Nic, Drove past your block on the weekend and saw your retaining wall which looks great (well the bit we could see from the road anyway!) Seems like there is heaps of rock in the estate - we had plumbers digging out pipework last week and it took longer because they hit rock. Afew neighbours we have spoken to have had similar issues (one even has a massive boulder in their backyard!) Amanda Re: Coral Hamilton 252 - WOOHOO!! Retaining walls and landscaping Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13781 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish.
