Hi, my husband and I are interested in purchasing land in Gisborne, particularly in the Mulbarton estate. Is there anyone who had land in this estate or nearby. Was wondering how your soil test came back and slab needed.
Thanks Kerrie

Still blocks available here!! Anyhow, our slab was P - which means Problematic... basically due to some slope and trees. The soil itself was fine. Our site costs were around 20k, and costs with the other two builders we almost went with were 30k+ and 15k-ish. We needed a cut and fill of 1100mm on our site. From looking at Mulbarton (actually drove around there today to look at landscaping ideas... ), most blocks don't seem to have as large a slope. Good luck - and keep us up to date with how you go. We built with Carlisle. M were actually good at estimating the cost and then it actually came in lower than estimated. A lot of the cost for the house we did build was due to the orientation of the house thanks to having to stay inside the envelope on one side and being allowed by council to go outside on the other - so a few piers and a couple of retaining walls required. Gisborne looks like a lovely little town from our couple of trips there. Would you agree it is a nice place to live. We also have a 3 yr old daughter so this is where she would start school. I am a teacher so I want her to go to school in a nice place. Thanks again Kerrie Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16156 4 6201 The concreter will take and reuse. In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists. 1 5160 |
