Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 19, 2008 2:44 pm Hi all,
Well I think it's time to leave the M3tricon thread behind and start a new one for our house. I have attached a floor plan of the standard Monaco32. We have taken out the walls of the rumpus room to have a huge area in the back - Carlisle assures us the house won't fall down! Our block of land is in Gisborne and thus far Carlisle has been exceptional. I was booking our colour appointment and tender appointment today and our client liaison executive (CLE) told me the soil report was back already - it came in as a P class slab. Apparently it is problematic due to fill on the site and trees being about 15 metres from the house - large gum trees. When M3tricon had done the soil report it had come back as a M-D class slab. Hence at the moment we are a bit nervous until we know the site costs due to a different class of slab. We are going tile and brick shopping this weekend so will keep you posted. At the moment we are scheduled for a December start with our tender appointment on 7 October and our colour appointment is on 26 September so things are going to move quickly which suits us. Edit - tried to upload the floor plan but seems this forum doesn't allow a pdf file to be attached. I have web space which I can access from home so will have to upload the file tonight. Dale. We also had differing slab class from different builders. Wonder if Class M-D is more expensive than class P. Hope not. Good luck on your new journey with Carlisle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! We are also building with Carlisle. You will find that they are really great and professional. Couldnot ask for more. We liked the Monaco too, but we needed an extra home theatre or multi purpose room, so chose the Atlantique Mk 2. Ours is based on Caroline Springs version. But we are building in south east victoria, Narre Warren South. Where are you building? Which centre did you base yours on? Andrew Building Atlantique Mk 2 with Carlisle Homes. Frame has started. We are building the Pagoda 32 in Sunbury. We too have a P class slab. We had soil tests from three other builders and Carlisle amended their soil test to be the same as others 9after additional testing. They are quite thorough and my understaning is that most slabs this side of town are P class. You need to remember a house is only as good as its slab! We sign contracts in 10 days and will start to build immediately. So far, we have found Carlilse to be really good and we aren't the easiest clients in the world. Keep us posted on your progress! We are building at Gisborne in the Morningside Estate - it has lots of trees about hence the P class site. We have our colour appointment this coming Friday somoving ahead uickly. Dale. Re: Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - All moved in! Photos! 12Oct 07, 2008 11:20 am Hi Dale,
How are you going with the house? Any updates? Re: Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - All moved in! Photos! 13Oct 10, 2008 11:53 am Hi,
Sorry for the slowness in responding but haven't been able to read forum much from work this week. We had our tender appointment on Tuesday but not all the prices had been received by the builder which was disappointing. For example we wanted to add air jets to the spa and the pricing on that has still not come back. We were also told that we could not have the bifold doors we wanted in the 32 square version of the house - all displays are 36 square versions. The bifolds just make the house so we were very sad and disappointed. Thankfully after some consultation we managed to extend part of the house and put the bifolds back in which was good news. As I'm writing this we are still waiting for some prices to be finalised and this is making me a little annoyed - they may have to ring and hurry up their suppliers. We have taken the chance though to slightly change the entrance so it may be in their interest to hurry up in case we change more things! Overall the service from the CLE has been excellent but the tender presenter wasn't impressive at all. She kept us waiting half an hour when we arrived and left us unattended for 45 minutes at a later stage when doing who knows what. I would prefer it if we just had the CLE and no different tender presenter - after all presenting the tender doesn't seem hard - its mainly reading out the document after all. Dale. Re: Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - All moved in! Photos! 16Oct 11, 2008 5:32 pm I just got back from seeing the Carlisle displays in Tarneit.
I fell in love with the atlantique 2 only to be told they don't build in the north east suburbs of Melbourne (Mernda).... Oh well, back to the drawing board... Re: Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - All moved in! Photos! 17Dec 30, 2008 11:29 am Hi everyone,
Time to restart this thread as lots has happened. I am Jo - Dale's wife. Just registered finally after reading this forum for months.... thanks for all the great advice that we have got from reading everyone else's experiences. Well we signed with Carlisle in mid September and site start was officially 8 December. I have just started a blog and now have that up to date with some photos of the land, the site scrape (which we saw on Sunday - very exciting!) and also our plan, site plan and front elevation. Blog is http://beigefreehouse.blogspot.com/ . As you can see from the title, I am in the camp of not being a fan of beige (hi Joles!). Our colours will be greys, whites etc. My next post on the blog will be all our colours. Hopefully get to that today. Very excited that we have started. It has been a long haul and this is the third builder we got to first contract stage with - so definitely nice to know we wil be building this great house. I want it now. By the way - my username refers to us having two large dogs (and a cat). The house has to suit them too! Jo Re: Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - All moved in! Photos! 18Dec 30, 2008 11:48 am Love your floor plan... How big is your island bench in the kitchen? It looks huge... very nice!! Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - All moved in! Photos! 19Dec 30, 2008 11:55 am Thanks. Yes we love the open design and although we had to accept not having a butler's pantry (per other houses we almost built!), the kitchen in this house is great - and an integral part of the living area.
The island bench is 2740mm x 1400mm. On the short end on the kitchen side are a set of pot drawers, and also more of those on the long end opposite fridge. Other long side has overhang for stools, with bi-fold behind. The end facing the living area has open shelves, same as photos on their website. Jo Re: Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - All moved in! Photos! 20Dec 30, 2008 11:03 pm Your floor plan looks great!!! I really love it! So is it a fix cost contract that you've signed with them? Do you mind telling me what's your end price after all those alternations? Am considering Carlisle too now that i've seen what they can do with their floor plan.. you can PM me. Thanks in advance. Our block most likely will need a H class slab.
