Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 02, 2009 12:22 pm Hi all, Our facade has been rendered incorrectly - instead of rendering the top of garage & front of master bed, the study front and portico has been rendered. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Does anyone know what can be done to fix this? Any idea how long it takes to remove the render? Thanks. [23/04] 2Mar 02, 2009 12:38 pm I don't know the answers to your question, but I just wanted to say that I really like where they have rendered, more so than what they should have rendered.
If you don't mind it too much, then I would ask for compensation from the builder for stuffing up, but tell them you will keep it as it is to save more work Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 4Mar 02, 2009 12:49 pm I actually like where they have rendered too and also think that it looks better than if they rendered in the correct place. Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise?
I dunno how they fix it either, but l'm with hels'n'greg....if you can live with it, keep it as is and ask the builder for some form of compensation. It looks like to fix it, it would costly, time and money wise, so it would be in the builders best interest to compensate you somehow. Good luck! Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 5Mar 02, 2009 12:51 pm Yep like what the others have said, I like it better this way. Def a blessing in disguise. It looks better, and you will be compensated for their stuffup! Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 6Mar 02, 2009 12:56 pm The only thing the OP might not like is thats standard for most front renders, perhaps they were after something different?
But yeah, it looks good, complain to the SS or whatever ofcourse, but IMO get them to throw in something free or such and let it be. Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 7Mar 02, 2009 12:59 pm Thanks for your feedback everyone.
Here is a picture of how it was supposed to have been done.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ What do you think of this? We actually were after something different as most of the facades we have seen around our area have been rendered like the first image.. [23/04] 8Mar 02, 2009 1:04 pm I agree - looks really nice this way - suggestion keep it but ask to not pay for the mistake... i can only removing it would be a nightmare short of rebricking.... good luck beautiful house Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 9Mar 02, 2009 1:10 pm I change my mind. I like how it should be, more interesting and modern.
I don't know what they can do though sorry, maybe they're going to have to add render to where it should go and pay for some cladding to cover the wrong bits. Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 10Mar 02, 2009 1:10 pm Thanks bluesteel

Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 11Mar 02, 2009 1:12 pm I prefer how it is meant to be - not sure how to fix it though 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' While it looks nice, and no one else would know that it's wrong, how frustrating for you!!!! Surely there must be some product that removes that first coat of render....??? Were you going to have the stacked stone on the post? What did your SS say??? Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 13Mar 02, 2009 1:19 pm I think both ways look nice. I guess it depends on how badly you want the original render to the facade, coz it's going to be tough to get them to change it. But if its stated on your contract, then if you ask for them to change it, they have to! Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 14Mar 02, 2009 1:20 pm The "how it should be" pic looks stunning but then again, it should do as it is obviously a finished display with great lighting effects and all the bells and whistles...Despite that, l still like what they have done to yours.
Maybe because l consider render to be more of a feature than brickwork. Accordingly, l'd use render to feature my entry area rather than my garage and front bedroom...but that's just me, l lean on the traditional side of things Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 16Mar 02, 2009 1:22 pm Thanks lisanne & Rachelle!
@petal: You are sooo right.. althought reading everyone's feedback here gives me hope that this is not a total disaster.. I really wanted the look we had decided on ...so yes its very frustrating.. Our SS is currently looking into it and will get back to us with recommendations ( i have a feeling they will try to convince us to stick with whats been done).. Also, we wanted the bricks on the pillar instead of the stack stone. Built PD Beaumont 35 - One year down in the new house.. still so much to do.. Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 18Mar 02, 2009 1:25 pm @Rachelle: You are right - I also found it confusing when I first got the drawings back and reconfirmed with our CS if it was depicted correctly. I was assured that it was... apparently thats not the case. Built PD Beaumont 35 - One year down in the new house.. still so much to do.. Re: Wrong part of Facade rendered... update! [23/04] 20Mar 02, 2009 1:31 pm The way the drawing pic is.. is telling me that the render should be done the way it is.
