KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - Prestart completed 164Oct 21, 2009 8:24 pm Hey Kara Congrats on surviving pre-start! Its exhausting isn't it?? We have also chosen Surfmist for our roof and garage as well- it is really good for engery efficiency apparently as it is light in colour and doesn't absorb heat! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=24970 Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - Prestart completed 165Oct 21, 2009 9:16 pm I have no idea camyperth.. still waiting to hear back from our prestart lady about all our final stuff and a few others costs we requested. We also had an issue with our bricks, we wanted normal standard face bricks, but apparently all our plans and measurements are done with 2course bricks. She said our sales guy would have asked us what we wanted. We don't remember him asking us, but even if he did, we were never told that we couldn't choose which ever brick we wanted at prestart or that measurements are done to that (its probably common sense, but being our first time building we have no idea). So to have the single face bricks that we want, we would have to pay $350 to have plans redrawn, and $100 to resubmit to council. She was going to talk to our sales guy about it and get back to us, but haven't heard anything yet. Yes SuH - thats how I described it too: 'fresh'! I do really like the surfmist roofs, and the more I am seeing surfmist garages the more they are growing on me. Plus the flexibility fo changing render colour themes at any time as it will always match white. yeah starbabe that is also one of the reasons why we chose it! We have built before but it was 15yrs ago so its all changed now, it seems to be harder this time (or we are just getting old ) My building thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25279 NEARLY DONE. KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - Prestart completed 168Oct 28, 2009 7:33 pm Yeah, no news really! Prestart lady got back to us with our final list of costs. We have decided to pay the extra to go with single face bricks, which means paying to have plan measurements redrawn and resubmitting to council, which is annoying but we really dont want the double bricks. Once she gets back to me about that I'll prob give council a call in a week or 2 to see how things are going. We wanted the 2 course bricks and thought that after reading the "Home File" we could select those from the range of bricks. At pre-start we were told we have to pay to submit to council to have plans re-drawn for 2 course because 1 course was standard!! Not wanting to hold things up (as it turns out it took soooo long for council approval it wouldn't have mattered anyway!!) we decided to have the whole house rendered because it was only going to cost $1500 more!! Our sales guy never asked us what bricks we wanted either!! I wonder if it's standard practice at V to not to tell you, you have to choose your bricks before pre-start!! That way they can get more $$$ out of you!! Built "The Manor" with Ventura We have an ocean view....IF WE STAND ON OUR TIPPY TOES!! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=24970 Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - Prestart completed 170Oct 29, 2009 8:20 pm We didnt get asked either, We thought they where going to be 2 course because the Display was. My hubby picked it up that we didnt know what bricks we where going to get and I email and said we wanted 2 course or render, we ended up with rendering the whole house. But this was before the plans had been completed. My building thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25279 NEARLY DONE. KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - Prestart completed 172Nov 03, 2009 2:39 pm SuH Hi kara, just read through your thread...another one I missed have to say I love your tile selections, those floor tiles will be a dream to maintain as I don't think anything will show up on them, unlike my matt brown tiles that show everything also the Asphalt cupboards will be beautiful. I did love that first feature tile you put up but those patterned tiles don't come cheap I'm afraid look forward to seeing your final selections Photos of the ashphalt cupboards would be appreciated if you have any. I have selected this colour for the bathroom but thinking of going for a darker shade but then keep going back to Asphalt.....oh the decisions. You wouldn't think a shade difference in colour could make the decision so hard but it does. Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - Prestart completed 173Nov 03, 2009 9:16 pm sorry, extremely busy lately and finding it hard to find time to get on here. Starbabe, I think our sales guy might have asked us what brick we were THINKING of going with, but it was phrased in a way that he was curious and we were never told that that would be final and we couldnt then choose whatever bricks we wanted a prestart. We got a letter today saying we got council approval, but I dont think that is with the house flipped and new bricks, so will be resubmitted and wait for approval again. Now we are into the build the bricks we have are 2 course!!!!!!!!!!! Does that then mean: a) as part of the $1500 extra we paid to render the whole house they re-drew the plans and submitted to council (for 2 course bricks) ??? or b) they just told us we couldn't have 2 course to make us pay more money???? I'm assuming the answer is b and will be asking my CLO to clarify this for me! Good luck with council approval kara, ours took FOREVER! and whenever we rang up, the person we needed was on holiday!!!
