Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 09, 2009 9:33 pm was originally meant to be using Ironstone however have heard that this it too blue. We are now looking at Woodland Grey.. but Im not sure if this matches. Our Windows will be metro silver in color. If anyone has pics or suggestions of what to use... ??? Re: What colorbond roofing with vic blue bricks?? 2May 09, 2009 10:53 pm Hi Hmmmmm We are nearing completion and have Vic Blue with a shale grey roof. Gutters, fascias also shale grey and downpipes ironstone to blend with the bricks - although in the photo below you can see they got this wrong - about to be corrected! Oh and except for the facade, our windows are metro silver. I think your roof goes great with the bricks Idiots are fun, that's why there is one in every village! - Dr. House - Re: What colorbond roofing with vic blue bricks?? 5May 10, 2009 8:38 am Thanks, I agree the house looks good and I really do like the shale grey color. However council has approved a dark color roof.. I think we would need to go back for an amendment if we were to completley change the look... uh oh.. what to do... Re: What colorbond roofing with vic blue bricks?? 6May 10, 2009 8:41 am also, I forgot to mention that its a double story. The bottom level will be the vic blue brick and the top level will be a whitish render/ James hardie panels in white. The colorbond roof will be visible for both levels.. Re: What colorbond roofing with vic blue bricks?? 7May 10, 2009 10:26 am Woodland Grey has a distinctive greenish tinge to it - so might not be the best choice to complement your lovely bricks. Although the Ironstone has a similar blueish tint to your bricks, the lighter upstairs colour should provide a nice contrast and break it up. You can always select different coloured trims as an accent if you like - spouting/fascia, front door, garage door etc. It helps to see the colours together to make a choice. Have you tried using the Colorbond colour visualiser tool? http://www.colorbondcolours.com/go/home/residential/colour-visualiser There isn't a brick option that's similar to Vic Blue, but you can choose a paint colour that comes close, just to get an idea. Re: What colorbond roofing with vic blue bricks?? 8May 10, 2009 2:57 pm front door and garage will be in a cedar color.. Ironstone could be the way to go. Now that I look at Woodland Grey I can see the greeny tinge... Another color option was Monument in the coorbond range... they didn't have any samples when we went to collect some. Has anyone out there used Monument? I do love Ironstone. Re: What colorbond roofing with vic blue bricks?? 12May 10, 2009 9:29 pm We have chosen Ironstone as well. We were considering woodland grey but as it had an olive/green tone, we preferred ironstone as it had a blue tinge. However, our facade colouring is mainly classic cream. I am not sure how ironstone would go with vic blue bricks... Re: What colorbond roofing with vic blue bricks?? 15May 11, 2009 11:11 am There you go... looks ike you were worried over nothing. I think ironstone is the way to go. Vic blue bricks + White render + ironstone roof = one dam sexy house! Can't wait to see that roof on our house I plan on installing an undercover walkway (awning ??) from my carport to the back door as shown in sketch. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10228 |
