Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 30, 2009 3:10 pm Hi everyone!!! My builder has asked me to start looking at display homes for a feel of what kind of facades I like. He has also started asking me what brick colours I would like and take that as consideration, also whether or not I want the front fully rendered, partially rendered or none at all. I had some options. One of which comes with brick around garage and a rendered parapet filling the front door and master bedroom window. However, I would love to incorporate some wood "features" (not to be mistaken for timber window frames or front door). Does anyone here have pictures of Boral brick's range of Escura Fusion BLUE RIO bricks photos to show?? as in YOUR houses that use Blue Rio bricks and some facades??? Please help!! THANKS!! Haywire Re: Boral BLUE RIO Bricks!! 2Mar 30, 2009 4:06 pm No one knows of anyone who knows of anyone whose house is built with Blue Rio Boral Bricks??? Haywire Re: Boral BLUE RIO Bricks!! 8Mar 31, 2009 3:40 pm Hi Haywire, Our house is Victorian Blue by Boral. Sorry, don't have photos on this computer, but check out our building thread and blog - see below. I love them! Blue Rio was also on my shortlist, but our builder didn't have it on their list... Victoria Blue is also one of our favourites!!!! It was a toss up between Victorian Blue and Blue Rio.... I'd loveeee to see your blog! I will do so now!! Anyone else, please keep'em coming!!! ANY DARK BLUE BRICKS OUT THERE TO SHOW?!?! Re: Boral BLUE RIO Bricks!! 10Mar 31, 2009 4:01 pm Doghouse, your house is FAR from a "doghouse"!!!!! It's beautiful!!! CONGRATS!!! Those bricks look awwwweessooommmeee!!! Man.... I'm wondering if I should change my mind back to the Victoria Blue I originally liked. Was afraid that it'll turn too dark. I was also looking for a light colour roof to contract the dark bricks. Yours is nice. But I'm using roof tiles instead of colourbond. Re: Boral BLUE RIO Bricks!! 11Mar 31, 2009 5:51 pm Haywire, not sure if this helps but fojean used Selkirk Blue Rain (I think) which are similar to Boral Escura Victoria Blue. Here is the link to fojeans blog. I think the house looks 'bluer' in real life. http://merndahouse.blogspot.com/ I think clarity was using the Victoria Blue too Here is Clarity's link viewtopic.php?f=31&t=11996& Happy at Home Re: Boral BLUE RIO Bricks!! 12Apr 01, 2009 8:08 am Hi House-to-be! Thanks for the links! Yes, it definitely helps!!! Gives me an idea on how to achieve a nice facade with dark bricks, especially on how to match colours of rendered parts of the facade and roof colour! Thanks so much!!! The more pictures there are, the merrier please!!! Re: Boral BLUE RIO Bricks!! 13Apr 01, 2009 9:14 am No problems Haywire Glad they helped. I pass Fojean's house twice a day and it looks fantastic! Happy at Home VIC BLUE IT IS!!!! 14May 20, 2009 1:34 pm Hi Guys!! It's been a while since I replied to this thread. But after going to Boral's display site at Hoppers Crossing and checking out prices with other brick makers and speaking with my builder on the final quote... we have finally chosen to go for Victorian Blue bricks!! I sure hope we made the right choice. We're going for silver window aluminum frames too to contrast the bricks, but we have black roof tiles... no light/white ones available in concrete roof tiles. But I think it should be fine... *fingers crossed* Has anyone got more pictures to share on Vic Blue bricks? Re: Boral BLUE RIO Bricks!! 15May 20, 2009 1:47 pm Hi Haywire, sorry no pics but great choice! I think those bricks look fantastic and your house will look very nice with the silver windows You must be pleased to have these decisions ticked off your list! edit - have you tried putting in the brick name into google images? I went off the idea of blue bricks and got stuck with the smooth face idea...which I found really hard to decide the facade colour scheme. Vic Blue bricks were the ones we originally wanted and we just think we won't love the bricks if we choose anything else. Yes, it's more money but a the end of the day we are happy to sacrifice a little more to get what we love. We will probably go with the natural matt coloured window frames with a lighter roof (initially wanted woodland grey) - paperbark. All the choices make it so had to choose. Re: Boral BLUE RIO Bricks!! 18Oct 23, 2009 6:16 pm My original brick choice was Blue Rio - although I think I'm going to have to find another brick. Since changing builders it doesn't seem to be on the new brick list I've received. I never knew I had such an opinion on bricks until going through this process twice I’m just in the process of replacing 2 stud walls that have been severely damaged by termites and am planning to use h2 blue pine. I just wanted to if anyone can advise… 0 52859 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair to do it properly you need to dig out the garden and waterproof the outside of the wall.
