We have finally got out council approval, only took 6+ months:) Finally things can swing into action. I will keep everyone who is intrested up to date as we move forward. We are building with Formula Homes. Our first action is to get a gravel driveway in as per councils requirements and then to get some of the trees cut down (Don't worry we have plenty left behind). After that the builder needs to do the site leveling and start on the slab. Finally we can start. 3xb Re: We're off 3Mar 22, 2007 2:09 pm Well done 3xb!! Now the fun really starts (it gets boring admiring the same piece of land each week doesn't it).
We took 8 months for the land to come through - but we had to wait for the entire section of the estate to be released at the same time so it wasn't just our land we had to wait for (so probably not comparable at all). But anyway .. congrats. Looking forward to hearing the updates as you go through the process. Cheers Amber Re: We're off 4Mar 22, 2007 2:35 pm vanderlay,
Don't panic, 6+ months is not the norm, we are building in the Dandenong Ranges so council is dealing with a lot of green/fire/styling/slope etc issues that are not the norm. I am not sure how much time most councils take but I imaging it will be anywhere between 4 and 8 weeks but that is just a wild guess based on what we have experienced in other states. Amber, You have us to a T, The amount of times we have had a 'picnic' on our land, is not funny:). Our 5yo son just doesn't understand why we have not started building - he is very excited along with us. 3xb Re: We're off 5Mar 22, 2007 2:43 pm Thats good! Our council is Shire of Yarra Ranges and have heard some bad stories about things taking a very long time! We dont have any overlays or anything complex though so hope we will be fine! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: We're off 6Mar 22, 2007 2:52 pm That is the same shire as us, but I think you should still be ok. I think it really depends on what issues come up. It is a big shire and has a lot of non protected areas.
Hey, we're almost neighbours:) 3xb Re: We're off 7Mar 22, 2007 3:20 pm Congrats! It'll be nice up there...especially in summer
Our Council permit only took about a week. It actually took the developer longer to approve the plans (stupid building covenants) than the council...maybe it was a quiet week at the Council offices. I wouldn't know the norm either, but I've just checked our records. Apparently our building permits application were lodged on Jan 30 and were received/approved on Feb 19. So, I'd say the 3-4 week timeframe is a good guide. Congrats on the approval, 3timesbuilda! [sneakersss] Re: We're off 9Mar 22, 2007 8:08 pm Woohoo!!!!

Regards 1 5141 Thanks for much mate. I see that you do cabinets before flooring. For timber flooring, for most parts it's fine because it's got base plates, and for door jabs you can… 7 16337 Thanks for that. I think the mortar has been sitting on these surfaces for approx a year. We’re at handover & they tried to get it off the rubber but have damaged it… 3 3099 |
