Re: Building with Tru Built - Sunshine Coast 86Aug 27, 2023 11:33 am Looking fantastic! How exciting to be so close to the end. We are in a pretty similar position again, so I think you've caught up to us Re: Building with Tru Built - Sunshine Coast 87Aug 30, 2023 6:11 pm Construction day 143 (Week 55) : 30 August 2023 All hands on deck to get the house finished. The specific area is outside the shaded council overlay for slope stability, and the area of retaining greater than 1m high is only about 9m2. Not the end of the world if we can't get it approved, but would look better and be more functional this way. Re: Building with Tru Built - Sunshine Coast 88Sep 05, 2023 8:31 pm Construction day 147 (Week 56) : 4 September 2023 Geotech came out on Thursday, was happy with the proposed front yard retaining, yay! Next steps, wait for his letter to come through, and then get Form 15 (Sunshine Coast Council) from the concrete sleeper company (Durawall). Practical completion walkthrough completed on Monday, independent building inspector also done on same day. A few areas / items outstanding, but no show stoppers. Now waiting for final invoice and occupancy certificate to be sent through. Solar booked in for 18 September, removalists for 25 September. Fingers crossed we can get the final invoice received and paid in time without rescheduling. Very mixed emotions: worried about finances, glad to be at the 'end' (of the beginning), excited to be moving in. I hope you've all enjoyed the 'build log'! I'll do my best to provide regular updates during 'year 1'. Home insurance purchased, about $3500 p/yr (budget direct). Moving day is booked for Mon 25 Sep. Time to get packing! Fly screens / security screens / window & door adjustments are the main outstanding item, due last week of September. My father and I have begun work on the concrete apron in front of the triple garage, due to be completed on or before move in day. Even if you have cement sheeting in the wet areas, get a top loader for your washing machine. The modern front loaders move clothes up and down which is a direction that joists can't absorb and you end up with cracked grout or vibrations neighbouring rooms as the sheeting tries to move up and down with the change in direction of the force. Often this isn't an issue but when there's not much weight between a washer and the neighbouring rooms it can be really noticeable. I just lived with the vibrations but then had to redo a bathroom as a result!
