Any reason why the timber wall is so far in from the boundary fence? Seems that you could have had a bigger back yard if you had built to closer to the fence. Re: Our Prosperity in Spring Farm...yard pics from 5/09/2010 844Sep 06, 2010 5:31 pm Rowena you've done a fabulous job of setting up the nursery it looks great Garden pics show a lot of hard work looking good carlswil I love your nursery, it's beautiful. Loretta Thanks everyone, we are hoping all the waiting pays off and it turns out like we have pictured. Thanks, we are so happy with it so far but at the same time, we are frustrated it is taking so long. I hope it's worth it. I will let Mark explain the finer details of our decision to put the retaining wall there. Hope your place is going well. Re: Our Prosperity in Spring Farm...yard pics from 5/09/2010 846Sep 06, 2010 7:38 pm We decided to put the timber retaining wall there as there is an easement in the bottom corner of the block, it's 1500x1500, and we aren't allowed to change the natural ground level. Our neighbours have also cut the gound about 600 below natural ground level, and the fence actually also sits on top of another retaining wall, so we needed to leave 1500 between the walls. If we wanted to fill our block up to the level that our timber wall is at, the retaining wall would have ended up at approx 1600 above the level of next doors yard, which would have meant an engineer designed wall, council approval's and a **** load of digging in solid rock! Not to mention the fence would be alot higher than it is now! All that is left to do is to backfill the timber wall and put in ag line. I've got a bobcat coming with another 15 tonnes of fill next Saturday, this will backfill the wall and build up the level of the yard ready for turf underlay, and also build a foundation for the concrete slab for the deck area. We have decided to go with a concrete slab under the decking, its going to work out a lot cheaper, last longer and have better drainage. And you don't need council approval for a concrete patio, but you do for a timber deck, that alone will save us almost a grand. They just won't know it will have decking on top The next plan after that is to build a decking path all around the perimeter from the front door to the decking area at the back. Thats going to be a big one! Re: Our Prosperity in Spring Farm...yard pics from 5/09/2010 847Sep 07, 2010 9:45 am Hi Guys, An easement explains everything. My place is going OK. I'm exporting fill from my place by the trailer load to a mates place. It's slow progress but it's getting rid of it for free so I'm not complaining too much. Next on my list will be fencing on top of my wall, a bunch of super hedge plants for along the fence-line, a big load of topsoil and then turf for the side yard. Then I can start on the back yard. Still lots to do. Re: Our Prosperity in Spring Farm...yard pics from 5/09/2010 848Sep 16, 2010 8:24 pm Hi guys just letting you & any other Sydney H1ers of a barby get together on Sun 24th Oct this is the link viewtopic.php?f=36&t=38458&p=573178#p573178 Would be great to finally meet everyone Loretta Built The Jenmark with Cavalier Homes Macarthur. http://camdenacres.blogspot.com/ Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17870 We are in - front landscaping begins Re: Our Prosperity in Spring Farm...yard pics from 5/09/2010 849Sep 18, 2010 7:31 pm Oh, thanks for sharing the BBQ but I am working that Sunday . I would've come otherwise... have a beer for me . Well, a little more progress has happened. Today we had 24 tonne of fill delivered to our place in preparation for our concrete slab (which hopefully will be happening next weekend). I have posted some pics of the area that will eventually be our entertaining area, but as you can see, ALOT more fill is needed for us to be complete. It's all coming together a bit quicker now. Re: Our Prosperity in Spring Farm...yard pics from 18/09/201 852Sep 19, 2010 11:17 am WOW that's a lot of fill guys!! Did it cost you or was it free from a site? We have the opposite problem at the front it needs to be scraped & I have been told it is expensive to have the soil taken away. Our builder suggested a skip might be cheaper. Your yard is really taking shape now. . .I love the walls & isn't it great to look back at progress pics to see how much has changed. Though sometimes it doesn't feel that way!! Yes Waylow spring has sprung & the ski season is over Shame you guys can't make the H1 BBQ Loretta Built The Jenmark with Cavalier Homes Macarthur. http://camdenacres.blogspot.com/ Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17870 We are in - front landscaping begins Re: Our Prosperity in Spring Farm...yard pics from 18/09/201 853Sep 19, 2010 5:38 pm JohnnyD WOW that's a lot of fill guys!! We are driving around to peoples places asking them if they want us to take their fill off their hands for them - LOL!!! We get the fill for free, but Mark knows a guy with a truck thingy and we pay him what it costs him to use the truck for the day. We will be getting him again as we need heaps, so if you need someone to take it off your hands . It depends on how much of a hurry you are to get rid of it. Re: Our Prosperity in Spring Farm...yard pics from 18/09/201 854Sep 19, 2010 5:53 pm Mark has done SOO much today and I am so proud of him. I think he just wants to see it done now. Today was doing the form work for the pouring of the concrete. Hopefully this will happen next weekend all being well. Cavalier are building a house up the road that has a lot of fill so I will ask the guys what they are doing with it. I will also keep an eye out for anymore.
