Re: Our Humble Abode with loads of pics! 63Jun 24, 2011 7:30 pm Hey Starz, It's been a long time since I've visited the Forum, and remembered that you were building the same house as us. I was rapt to see your thread! It's so weird seeing my house, but in someone else's colours and style! Wow! You've done a great job with your colours and they will look amazing when it's all done! By the way, I lovethe changes that you have made to the family/rumpus/meals areas! And a shoe room??? Absolute Genius! I am jealous that I never thought of anything like that! I mean I love my spa, but a shoe room? That's just brilliant! When are you due to be in the house? So you would be in your home already yes? How is it all going? Handover is looking to be some time in September. It has been such a long slow build, I think I will look forward to it when it happens lol! Yes... a shoe room.... It's not that I have copious amounts of shoes... really, its just the fact that I wanted them in one place and not at the taking up loads of usable storage space in the WIR. So how did everything go for you? Were you happy with your home in the end? __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Re: Our Humble Abode with loads of pics! - UPDATE! 66Jun 27, 2011 4:31 pm Just met with sparky to deliver some kitchen and outdoor lights for him to install. He tells me that there have been lots of theft in homes that have been unlocked so has advised against me getting him to connect the light fittings. A bit bummed about that but I guess I dont think it worth the risk (seeing that we have been able to walk in most of the time we've visited). - Sorry ojaaynme, looks like we'll both have to wait a bit longer for them to install that powder room light They have let me supply some lights in the stairwell. I'm thinking LED's would be the way to go. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Our Humble Abode with loads of pics! 69Jun 29, 2011 5:36 pm Mclaren Have fun with that! Wasn't as painful as I thought actually. A few from the tiler when I mention the words 'strategically placed' other than tat all went very well. Also got a chance to catch up with the SS to go over the last few things. The Sparky's were there and hung a ceiling fan within 15 mins of me handing them the box! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Update - Exterior painting starting next week... hopefully. 74Aug 12, 2011 8:36 am Well its been a looong time between posts so thought I would give this bit of an update (and a little rant). So I decided to change the render color layout (not the colors, just the positioning) and told the SS. He had referred me on to CS who then emailed me o say that were will be a admin fee charge and a 5 day delay in handover. I understand the charge, its the builders 'money grab for minor changes' but the delay? I emailed the Project manager and General manager to state that I dont understand why the delay when the front profile to one of the windows (needs to be brick filled) is not yet done and had been like that for 6 months. They explained that they had booked the render for Monday and the 5 day delay is a 'just in case' time frame if they need to re-book him (in case he goes onto another job) due to the change. I told them, that if they start rendering Monday, he will need to come back anyway to finish off the render around the window once its filled so why penalize us for the delayed time when its their fault. Anyway to cut a long story short, they are looking to delay time because of their lazy supervisor who cant organize trades on time. On a good note, Garage door is on!... lets hope it works. Try and get some pics this week end. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Re: Our Humble Abode with loads of pics! 75Aug 14, 2011 9:58 am I bet your itching to get in starz, hopefully they won't delay you too long (these builders they seem to use any excuse under the sun to get things there way). Can't wait to see the progress pics. Can't wait to see the progress pics. Thanks ojaaynme, Well i've waited a year, whats another 5 days hey! (hysterical laughter) They have firmly locked up now, no more sneaking in the window so I have to plan my attack, armed with a camera, when the appliance installers are there. Hopefully they will start the color on the facade sometime next week, weather permitting. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Re: Our Humble Abode with loads of pics! 77Aug 16, 2011 12:38 am Starz, just love everything about your house. Love the floor plan, the facade is awesome, and love your colours! My wife & I seriously considered Hometec for a while, we loved their plans, and the facades, especially the entrances, are so impressive. Maybe next time We're also building in Narre Warren South - are you in Kimberley Downs? We're not far away if it's where I'm thinking. You cant miss it, its the house that looks like its never gonna be finished lol! Just took a squiz at your selection plans an selection, very impressive indeed! Carlisle Homes? Great floor plan, has every room you would possibly need. My neighbour built with Carlisle and he seems very happy with the result. Ours should be finished soon... They should be starting the facade colors when the sun comes out I suppose and then its just the appliances need to be fitted. Roll on September, its been a long year. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. SO CLOSE YET SO FAR! AAGGGHHHH 79Aug 18, 2011 6:17 pm With the build almost coming to an end, all that need to be done is tapware fit-off, appliance install and facade render, thing were looking good 2 day ago, apart from a color location change that brought about a 5 day delay (okay, my bad). Though things were on the up, what can possibly go wrong from here? Well yesterday I got a call from my CSA saying that I will need to re-select the ensuite taps because they're not tall enough for the basin. "Ensuite taps? Do you mean Bathroom? The ensuite taps are wall mounted" I asked "Not sure, I'll get back to you wen I find out which room it is" (she's not too bright) So I get an email last night giving me options for the type of hob mounted tapware I can select for the ensuite (which all look pretty average). I was confused so I grabbed the selection booklet and then I looked up my original email sent to my former CSA letting her know which taps I wanted. and then I saw the error... My email request was for a Jovian Wall Basin Mixer http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g465/allstarz8/Bathrooms/thumb-jpeg-800px-24bpp.png The CSA wrote down Jovian Basin Mixer Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So now the tiles are on, and the basin and stone bench is in and they have done the plumbing in the wrong place! Anyway I get a phone call from MY FORMER CSA!! (who apparently still works there P/T, and no doubt still making stupid mistakes!) and she admitted it was her fault and was is trying to convince me that there will be so much time wasted to wall mount a tap... time delays in handover... she can find a really nice tap that I would like ... i'll get a credit back... blah blah blah... I really love the tap I chose, will look really good with the basins... delay or not, I'm sticking with it! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
