Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Shellb78 Build- PIC FEST! 62Jul 05, 2010 10:11 am Just discovered a problem and now I am feeling sick about how it is going to look!!!!! This is a pic of a display kitchen with a plaster bulkhead over the overhead cupboards.... I added a plaster bulkhead so it could look like this http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv95/shellb78/kitchen.jpg After visting the house yesterday and seeing the overhead cupboards on without the doors, there will be a 200mm gap between our bulkhead and the cupboards which will be infills!!! I didn't want infills- and definately not 200mm deep ones!!!! This is a pic of our kitchen, have spoken to the SS and he has said the reason the bulkhead was only made 100mm was to match in with the island bench bulkhead so I can understand this. This is not the SS's fault as we have organised our own cabinetmaker but if my cabinetmaker had have provided me with 3D drawings of the kitchen I would have picked this up and told him it wasn't what I wanted. What should I do??? Does everyone agree it will look ****??? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Michelle Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Shellb78 Build- Problem!! HELP! 63Jul 05, 2010 2:20 pm Can your cabinet maker make the doors extra long so that they form a false front covering the gap/infill? EG_if your current cupboards are 900mm high and then there is a 200mm gap-make the doors 1100mm high so that when the doors are shut you cant's see the gap/infill? HELP! 64Jul 05, 2010 3:22 pm Am meeting with him at the house tonight.... he did mention this morning that the doors had already been made so I am guessing I may have to pay for these to be re-done. Rowling, Your books are entirely unrealistic. I mean, a ginger kid with two friends? Sincerely, Anonymous Re: Shellb78 Build- Problem!! HELP! 66Jul 05, 2010 5:32 pm The Little Misses Excuse my stupidity, but what does an infill look like? I found this in the "show me your kitchen" thread. The infill is the bit between the bulkhead and the cupboard door and is usually made from the same as what your cupbaords are (I think) Ours will be much bigger than in this pic though!! 200mm or 20cm!! HELP! 67Jul 07, 2010 9:24 am Met with cabinet maker on site yesterday and he will be finished cupboards at the end of today so we can have a look at how it looks and decide from there if we should make the bulkhead bigger. Builders were there yesterday putting doors and door handles on and towel rails etc. Have been given the heads up that Handover will probably happen on the 28th of this month so have started packing a few things I know we won't need over the next few weeks.
