Not sure if this helps but the cost of our driveway was $3k. That was to clear 120m and form up the driveway and crossover.
Great progress on the rest. Can't believe how quick the permit came through!

Got a quote back for our driveway access that made my eyes pop Hoping the others might come in a little less, we have been told that it is a little on the high side This acerage building is new to us .. so hard to know what is ball park or not! Can't believe how quick the permit came through! Wow Nikki... we were quoted $7.3k!!! Thats for 120m long, 4 m wide with a turnaround. 150mm deep road base. Editing to add that we are on sandy soil with no rocks and just weedy grass to clear. We are going to our SS and see what he thinks we will need Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 44Jul 09, 2015 2:03 pm I absolutely adore everything about your build - the design and all your choices, in my eyes, are perfect! Cant wait to come along for the journey! Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 45Jul 09, 2015 2:15 pm All your choices so far look stunning - I will be following your build with interest! Well done your selections are lovely - wish my OH would leave it all up to me - he doesn't bother/want to look for things, but is very very quick to say if he doesn't like something Yes I must admit, I am kind of glad he just goes with the flow and I am sure he would speak up if he really hated something. The sales girl at the tile shop just laughed when he said.. are we done now? haha Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 47Jul 09, 2015 4:20 pm Gypsyhabitat Following! You are building my dream home! I have to watch this! Please tell me you are having a nice long driveway! It will be 120m long which is just long enough for me Although at present we just have grass (well weeds and grass) so I thinking about what I will plant along the driveway. Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 48Jul 09, 2015 4:21 pm Thanks Bonnie and Adele. I am getting impatient for all our quotes to be finalised so we can get things moving.. Ours was quite heavy bush and had some whoppers of rocks as well! It might be the road base that makes the difference? Not sure what prep would be require for that. We just left ours as gravelly sand and will top and grade it once the builders have finished carving it up. Is yours with an independent earthworker or through the builder? Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart completed! 50Jul 09, 2015 9:47 pm nikkis2000 Jeepers!! Nikki, We are getting our site works done independently. The OH questioned the contractor and basically the $7k would supposedly get us a driveway that wouldn't need anything more done. Our builder said we don't need to spend that much and if we want to save $$ we could go more basic. We are waiting to see what the other quotes come in at and will negotiate on something simpler. I feel for that price we could buy our own tractor and do it ourselves and the firebreaks lol So far septic and site works quotes have been spot on budget which is good. Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 51Jul 10, 2015 9:03 pm Posting to follow, exicited to find another acerage build. You have a great design and very similar taste to me with your internal colour choices. The splashback tile looks beautiful and will now look even better above a stone bench My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 52Jul 10, 2015 9:21 pm Congrats on being that one bit closer! Love all your prestart selections and upgrades. Very much looking forward to seeing it all come to life Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 53Jul 15, 2015 10:56 am Not much happening at the moment build wise other that getting frustrated waiting for quotes. We have had a bit of a win with our electrical run which is about 140m. We ran a quote by one of our electrical contractors at work (the OH and I work for the same company) and he has offered to do the job with OH giving him a hand with labour... Saving us around 3k We think we have decided on who to go with for our site works.. Just have to renegotiate the driveway costs. Our builder has come back with our variation costs which were all well within ball park of what we were thinking and we only decided to not go ahead with two of our requested variations. They left the cost of the stone off so waiting for that back. I am also questioning one of the costs to upgrade some taps.. It's a few dollars more than what it would cost us to buy them ourselves so I think they missed adding a credit. Looking forward to having this all sorted so we can get moving on the build! Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 54Jul 15, 2015 4:11 pm Great news about the electrical, it always is handy saving a good amount like that Great that your variations came back ok too. I remember this stage and how long it felt, but before you know it all your ideas & your new home will be coming to life really soon Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 55Jul 21, 2015 7:02 am Wow what a bargain to save that much on the electrical run-in! Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 56Jul 21, 2015 8:39 am All coming together now. Selections look great! It's busy running around organising quotes isn't it! Will all be worth it in the end Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 57Jul 26, 2015 12:31 pm I have just caught up on your thread Mellianne5. Love your plans and all your selections look great! Glad your OH agreed to stone benchtops in the end, I think it's easier and cheaper to put the stone during the build. Look forward to following the rest of your journey Our building journey viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77582 Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - waiting waiting. 58Aug 01, 2015 9:35 pm Went up to the block yesterday and met with our site works contractor and managed to save a few more $$ by discussing what we actually need for the driveway and house pad height. Happy with the outcome and he was quite helpful with his advice and being familiar with the area. We also discovered we now have a water meter so DH can finally put in our fence and gates along the front. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ While we were checking out the water meter we discovered our power dome has become a bee hive It was swarming with bees. The contractor told us its common and that the power guys will be equipped to deal with them... I hope so! Hoping we are not to far off having more than a water metre to show, I am starting to get impatient! Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 59Aug 01, 2015 10:28 pm That's great news about the water meter mellianne And great too that you found someone really helpful with the site works, makes a big difference having that kind of help! Bet your looking forward to it all starting Re: Forever home on 5 acres near Lancelin - Prestart complet 60Aug 02, 2015 6:21 pm That's odd about the bees being a common thing, maybe they will just move on. A few months ago I noticed a massive swam of bees hanging off a tree branch, it was the size of a soccer ball, the next day it was gone - phew!
